How To Reach Abu Dhabi From Chennai

Abu Dhabi International Airport is located right in the city, around half an hour’s drive away from the Central Bus Station. From the airport, there are metered cabs, limousines and Bus No A1 to take you to your desired location. This bus runs every 30 minutes round the clock for AED 3 for a one-way trip, which is perhaps the cheapest way to reach the central area of the city from the airport.

By Air: There are three daily Chennai to Abu Dhabi flights, all of them operated by Etihad. Chennai to Abu Dhabi flight duration for them is 4 hours 30 minutes. Two of these flights leave in the morning, 4:40 am and 9:30 am, while the other one at 9:15 pm at night. If you do not get tickets to these flights, it is better to fly to Mumbai or Delhi which have more nonstop flights to Abu Dhabi than to take connecting flights via Muscat or Bahrain.

By Road: Tracing the Chennai to Abu Dhabi distance by road, one can see that the road goes all the way around Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, the entire Arab peninsula and then come to Abu Dhabi, which do not make sense to travel. From Dubai however, there are comfortable bus liners to Abu Dhabi which take around 2 hours.

By Rail: UAE is not a country with a well developed passenger train system. There are plans of one between Dubai and Abu Dhabi soon enough and there will be more connecting Abu Dhabi with other Emirates. However, it is unlikely that there is or will be any rail connectivity between Chennai and Abu Dhabi ever.
