The peak season when Chicago sees the maximum number of travelers is the summer season, mainly because the beaches are best enjoyed during summer. Winters get extremely low tourism because of the biting cold. It is quite frigid from December to March.

June to August is the best season to visit Chicago. By the beginning of June, the chill is gone completely. Warm, sunny weather spreads all over the Windy City. The average temperature during June-August can range from 18°-29°C, which is extremely pleasant for a vacation. Temperatures can fluctuate suddenly because of strong breezes from Lake Michigan or a passing heatwave.

But despite that, it is when Chicago is most happening. This period sees a lot of events and festivals, including the famous Chicago Blues Festival, Chicago Air and Water Show, and more.

September - October (11°C to 18°C)

Just like April-May, this time is also a shoulder season for Chicago. Prices come down significantly after the crazy summer season and so does the temperature. It stays around 11°-18°C on average. Chicago in September-October is the most beautiful sight. With fewer people, cheaper rates and the essence of the fall season all around, it will be one great vacation to Chicago.
