3800000000000001; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 10pt;">Siliguri is the main town in North Bengal. The town acts as a central hub for all sorts of transportation towards further north or north-east. Be it flight or bus or car, routes spread around like nerves from Siliguri towards the mountains. Bhutan is not an exception. Siliguri to Bhutan can be reached by all three forms of transport – flights, bus, and train. They might not be straight to the capital Thimphu, but close enough to the border. Here are the different ways how to reach Bhutan from Siliguri.

By Air: The closest airport to Siliguri is the Bagdogra International Airport, only 23 minutes away from the town. Bagdogra is the only way to avail Siliguri to Bhutan flight. There are regular flights to Paro flying out of Bagdogra, operated by Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines. Druk Air is the national carrier of Bhutan and also the flag-bearer of the dragon symbol.

By Road: If a car is hired for going from Siliguri to Bhutan by road, then the route to Jaigaon has to be availed. Siliguri to Bhutan distance till the border at Phuentsholing is around 157 kilometers, and it takes 3 hours 45 minutes on the car to go from Siliguri to Bhutan border. From Phuentsholing, Thimphu takes another 2 hours to reach. The road is quite smooth and well-maintained. There are many car rental agencies in Siliguri who drive to Bhutan. These cars have to get permits at the border for traveling further than the Phuentsholing area. However, Indians do not need any visa but only an identity proof to get into Bhutan. There are Siliguri to Bhutan bus services as well, from Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminal on Hill Cart Road. This too shall take you till Phuentsholing, from where there are other buses and taxis to Thimphu or Paro.

By Rail: The main broad gauge train station of Siliguri is called New Jalpaiguri Station. To go from Siliguri to Bhutan by train, one must avail the Hasimara or New Alipurduar-bound trains that leave from NJP. Hasimara is the closer one, only 17 kilometers away from Bhutan border. From these stations, there are taxis or autos to take you to Phuentsholing.

Bhutan Trip with Bhutan Red Rhobes Destination We had a wonderful experience with Bhutan Red Rhobes Destination. Mr. Subhash planned our Bhutan trip seamlessly, and the hotel arrangements were just as we had hoped for — clean, comfortable, and well located especially at Paro. Bhutan is breathtakingly beautiful — lush, green, and peaceful with genuinely warm and kind people. The trek to Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a must-do — challenging but absolutely worth it for the views and the experience. The Paro River was another highlight — so pristine and serene. A special mention to Mr. Subhash, who took the time to personally meet us at our hotel and ensured everything was in order. It was lovely meeting him in person. Highly recommended for anyone planning a trip to Bhutan!

Bobby's 4 days trip to Bhutan

I had specifically asked for 4 star properties and was quoted amount for the same. Lemon Tree thimpu is a 3 star property as per google and other major websites and Lemon Tree manager also said it is a 3 star property. Valley Travels passes it off as a 4 star Property. In Paro we were changed from Tashi Namgay, a 4 star property to tiger's Nest at the last minute. Tiger's Nest is a very old Property without proper plumbing and very far off from Airport as well as city center.
