How To Reach Taktsang Monastery in Paro

If you are wondering how to reach Paro Taktsang by car, let’s start by saying that there are no vehicles allowed till the doorstep, neither are the roads navigable. The starting point of the trek is around 10 miles north of Paro town, till where you can travel by car. Tiger Nest Monastery Trek Distance is 4 miles on a round trip and an elevation increase of around 1700 ft. Halfway through the climb, there is a cafeteria, washroom facilities and a lovely picturesque view of the monastery. After this, the trek gets easier, but the scenery and views of the monastery get prettier. The last section of the trek is a climb of 700 stairs – that’s how many steps to Tiger’s Nest one must conquer to reach the sacred site. Those who have difficulty walking can take mules till the halfway point.

Hotels were nice and comfy in Thimpu and Punakha but didn't like the hotel in Paro much. Our driver Mr. Sangay and our guide Ms Phuntso were very courteous and helpful. Our cab was super comfy and there was no issue throughout our trip.

It was an amazing trip to Bhutan. Bhutan guide and driver were friendly and sophisticated. Hotels were good. Although we experienced cab issue while returning to Bagdogra Airport, agent arranged alternate driver. Other than that I definitely recommend travel triangle.

The overall experience was very good. Our driver and travel guide in Bhutan were vert cooperative and accommodating. They made our experience worthwhile. The only part which was unpleasant was our driver who dropped us to Bhutan border on 27th, he was rude and was not cooperative at all.
