Mumbai To Thimphu Distance

By AirBy RoadBy TrainBy Sea
Mumbai to Thimphu2.0 hours50.0 hours--

Mumbai is one of the most populated metropolises of India and has incredible population density. Having so many people living there means that the city needs to be well connected to the rest of the world by way of road, flights, and railways.  To know how to go to Thimphu from Mumbai, a person can opt for any of the following ways.

By Air: To travel from Mumbai to Thimphu by air, there are several flights to Paro. Thimphu, despite being the capital of Bhutan still lacks an airport. Mumbai to Thimphu flights is not available, although there are flights to Paro. Unfortunately, there are no non-stop flying options to travel between the two locations. There are layovers at Bangkok and Kathmandu, which make the flight longer than they need to be, as there is the option of flying to Kolkata from where there are regular flights to Paro. Once in Paro taking a car or taxi to travel to Bhutan's capital is a simple option.

By Road: While travel by road between the locations is possible, there are the accompanying dangers of traveling long distances. Cars may break down, and the cost of fuel is high as well. The distance between Mumbai to Bhutan by road is 2668 kilometers and takes 50 hours to cover it, which can mean as much as four days on the road, with rest included. Traveling by road once you reach the border near Jaigaon, it is then easy to travel by car the rest of the distance to Thimphu after entering Bhutan.

By Rail: While there is no direct connection between Mumbai and Bhutan by railways, a person can opt to travel to Kolkata. From there, they can catch a train to the nearest railway station to Thimphu, Hasimara. It is a 30-minute car journey away from the Bhutan border at Jaigaon. From there traveling to Thimphu is a matter of securing a taxi.

    • Trip to Bhutan

The travel agent is unable to execute the tour smoothly though they have provided the hotel vouchers well before the trip. However, driver helped us to get a good hotel. Recommend not to go with Texa trove.

    • Trip to Bhutan

We enjoyed the trip very much. It was a pleasant and joyful experience for my whole family and my parents. Having old people in the group, they took great care in crafting the itinerary, so that it suit them. The hotels were chosen in such a manner that it fulfilled all our needs and demands. A big thank you to Travel Triangle and "Way About Bhutan" as well.

    • Trip to Bhutan

Best of hotels provided but do take care of your evening food before 8 pm else you won’t get food across Bhutan. Morning 8 to evening 8 is part of country’s culture so be cautious about it and fill up your stocks so as to spend evenings well. Tiger nest trekking about 16.2 kms was the best part of the tour. The Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a small collection of buildings precariously perched on a cliff, 900 meters off the ground. It is stunning in its beauty and location.Without a doubt, a first time trip to Bhutan would not be complete without seeing the Tiger’s Nest.

    • Trip to Bhutan

Hotels : All hotels Bhutan was good. The hotel in Thimphu was so far from city the we had to pay separately for cabs to commute to city if needed. However, in Paro (Sinchula villa) was not clean and services were not great. Powring guest house in gangtok was good. Marvel international in darjeeling was the worst of all.. The room was unclean and the location was such that we had to carry our luggage to the hotel as the cab drivers resisted to come to hotel. The cab drivers were asking money directly or in directly at times. Travel agent services were good except that i was promised for a innova to Nathula pass but we were made to go in Alto. The agent has also promised to pay back extra money which was given to cab driver during darjeeling city tour since he asked for it. Every place was covered except a very few of them.. So it was a good experience overall.

We are thankful to Mr Yadop Kumar kafley and his team of Old Monk for their prompt response and dealing. Special thanks to Mr Yadop for selection of nice hotels. The receive by Sanjib and total trip companion of Robin was excellent. The timing, punctuality, discipline and communication skill is commendable.

    • Trip to Bhutan

-hotels did not have lifts except paro hotel . Rooms alloted in third floor . Was very inconvenient to climb till 3rd floor . -orchid hotel at phunsoling did not serve dessert with dinner saying that they don’t have it in menu . My plan was map and other hotels did serve dessert . - Food at all hotels was average . Below expectations. Had very limited variety in buffet . -Extra bed was on floor instead of a proper cot . -Bhutan as a country is very beautiful and clean . -people are nice , simple and helpful.
