Having so many people living there means that the city needs to be well connected to the rest of the world by way of road, flights, and railways.  To know how to go to Thimphu from Mumbai, a person can opt for any of the following ways.

By Air: To travel from Mumbai to Thimphu by air, there are several flights to Paro. Thimphu, despite being the capital of Bhutan still lacks an airport. Mumbai to Thimphu flights is not available, although there are flights to Paro. Unfortunately, there are no non-stop flying options to travel between the two locations. There are layovers at Bangkok and Kathmandu, which make the flight longer than they need to be, as there is the option of flying to Kolkata from where there are regular flights to Paro. Once in Paro taking a car or taxi to travel to Bhutan's capital is a simple option.

By Road: While travel by road between the locations is possible, there are the accompanying dangers of traveling long distances. Cars may break down, and the cost of fuel is high as well. The distance between Mumbai to Bhutan by road is 2668 kilometers and takes 50 hours to cover it, which can mean as much as four days on the road, with rest included. Traveling by road once you reach the border near Jaigaon, it is then easy to travel by car the rest of the distance to Thimphu after entering Bhutan.

By Rail: While there is no direct connection between Mumbai and Bhutan by railways, a person can opt to travel to Kolkata. From there, they can catch a train to the nearest railway station to Thimphu, Hasimara. It is a 30-minute car journey away from the Bhutan border at Jaigaon. From there traveling to Thimphu is a matter of securing a taxi.

Bobby's 4 days trip to Thimphu

I had specifically asked for 4 star properties and was quoted amount for the same. Lemon Tree thimpu is a 3 star property as per google and other major websites and Lemon Tree manager also said it is a 3 star property. Valley Travels passes it off as a 4 star Property. In Paro we were changed from Tashi Namgay, a 4 star property to tiger's Nest at the last minute. Tiger's Nest is a very old Property without proper plumbing and very far off from Airport as well as city center.

Ketan's 6 days trip to Thimphu

It was a good experience with BINC Bhutan. They provided Good hotels with upgrades wherever possible. All good places were recommended and covered. Very effective co-ordination by BINC team which made the visit very smooth and hassle-free. Some facts not in control of the agents - No role of the compulsory guide-not worth, most of the places have high entry fees (mostly not worth keeping in mind the place). Someone visited Sikkim/North-East may find Bhutan similar to that, so not all places are worth-visiting. Overall good experience. I recommend BINC.
