About Shopping Guide In Ontario
Ontario is not only Canada’s most visited state but is also home to the best shopping destinations. From malls to farmers markets to street shops to flea markets, there is nothing that Ontario will disappoint you in. Toronto is the main center for shopping, complete with small-scale markets as well as shiny malls. Ottawa and Hamilton are not that far behind either.
Here are some of the best places for shopping in Ontario.
1. Kensington Market, Toronto
Kensington Market is perhaps the place for best shopping in Ontario. A part of the marketplace neighborhood is dedicated solely to farm produce. There are some really good bakeries, spices, and cheese shops as well. Coming to dresses and accessories, there are multiple shops for both new and second-hand products, and at lucratively discounted prices. Recently, there has been a spurt of restaurant and café culture here.
2. Haggler’s Flea Market, Hamilton
Although the name does not sound quite sophisticated, Haggler’s Flea Market in Hamilton is the oldest, grandest and best flea market in Ontario. You can literally find everything under the roof over here. Electronic items and gadgets, toys and video games, old vinyl records, bookshops, vintage accessory shops, collectibles, costume jewelry, household decors, and furniture and so on.
3. St Jacobs Market
St Jacob’s Market is the largest all-year long farmer’s market in Ontario. Though it is not in the urban centers, if you are planning to drive down to the countryside, St Jacobs has one of the best Ontario shopping centers. Furniture at St Jacobs Furnishings or Little Cottage, clothes from Maggie’s or Canadian Alpaca Products, Ontario souvenirs from Celtic Art, Byford Gifts or African Serengheti Arts and Crafts and many other fun shops are located here.
4. China Town Market, Toronto
Shopping in Ontario is incomplete without a trip to the China town. Studded with shops and restaurants, China Town is the colorful heart of Toronto downtown. Dragon City and Chinatown Centre are the two major malls here, other than the many roadside shops and stalls selling trinkets, jewelry and cheap clothes. While you are here, do taste Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai flavors from the exquisite restaurants.
5. Vaughan’s Mills, Toronto
Located just south of Canada’s Wonderland, Vaughan Mills is one of the best shopping malls in Ontario for a retail outlet. From top-notch international brands to lesser known local ones – this place has it all. Vaughan Mills is not the only location where you can find such outlets, but it is one of the most famous ones.
6. ByWard Market, Ottawa
ByWard Market in Ottawa is one of the best places for shopping in Ontario, Canada. The four blocks area is dotted with numerous shops from where one can buy gifts and souvenirs to take back home. Not only clothes, accessories or trinkets, but Canadian food delicacies like maple syrup and craft beer can be found here as well. Roots Canada is a very popular place, where you can shop for Canadian wool and leather, as well as taste their own locally sourced maple syrup.
7. St Catharine’s Flea Market, Niagara
St Catharine’s Flea Market is the largest indoor-and-outdoor shopping place in the Niagara region. Since 1987, it has been welcoming customers every Sunday and selling things at unimaginable prices. Clothes, home appliances, and décor, gadgets, books, accessories, jewellery, toys, cosmetics, antique pieces, and paintings are some of the best-bargained things here.
