Best Time To Visit Somnath

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

Said to have been built by Somraj (the moon god), Somnath is one of the most beautiful and significant religious sites in India.

Somnath is one of the 12 most sacred Shiva shrines, known as Jyotirlinga, and attracts tourists and devotees alike from every corner of the world. Generally, September to March are considered to be the best time to visit Somnath. During this time, the temperatures are cool and perfect for exploration. However, if you wish to avoid crowds and tourists, then summer or monsoon may be ideal for you. It is to be kept in mind, however, that Somnath is extremely hot and humid during these seasons. Hence, it should most definitely be visited during the winter months when the heat is more bearable.

Climate In Somnath

The climate in Somnath is that of heat and humidity. Hence, summers and monsoons are generally avoided for visiting this enchanting temple. However, if you are on a budget or would like to explore Somnath with comparatively fewer crowds, summers and monsoons may be worth considering. Winter months are typically considered ideal for visiting the shrine and exploration of nearby places. The weather is quite pleasant and the sunlight can provide some nice warmth.

Summer Season in Somnath

Summers in Somnath generally range from March to June and can be very uncomfortable for visiting. The temperature during these months can range from 24°C to a gruelling 42°C. These temperatures are synonymous with those of the summers in other parts of Gujarat and are indeed extremely hot. So unbearable are these months that they hinder sightseeing activities and make individuals not want to leave the comfort of their accommodations.

Monsoon Season in Somnath

If summers are sweltering and hot, monsoons are a whole other matter. The monsoon month in Somnath typically lasts from July to September and receives a significant amount of rainfall. While this is a normal phenomenon for many places across the country, Somnath is a special exception because the monsoons in the place are almost vicious. The town is often faced with harsh winds that may even turn into cyclones during some particularly bad days. Humidity also runs high during the monsoon season which means that individuals visiting Somnath during this time are in for a particularly uncomfortable visit.

Winter Season in Somnath

As previously mentioned, winters in Somnath are the best time to witness its enchanting beauty. Winter in Somnath generally ranges from October to February and ideal to visit this sacred destination. The temperatures during this time range from 12°C to 27°C. These temperatures are a great relief from the hot summers and the humid monsoons, making it the perfect time to explore and witness all that Somnath has to offer. The winter months, especially the month of February, are also the peak time to visit Somnath due to the festival of Maha Shivratri. Due to these reasons, thousands of Hindu devotees flock to Somnath to fill it with prayers and celebrations.

Deepak's 5 days trip to Somnath

Travel agents coming on travel triangle should be more commited for services towards clients. If some problem occurs during tour then travel agents, person handling the client should come forward to overcome the problem/issue. Remaining silent or not taking adequate action shows that it's all about money and not about good services . If some problem comes in between the tour then it's a opportunity for good travel agent and for the advisor to come with solution and give satisfactory results. It's very easy to get 5 stars on a normal tour but real testing is then when something unusual happens, when trouble comes , then in that situation if agents, advisors do good job then only it's 5 star rating for agents and advisors. Thanks for listening

Shuvadeep's 7 days trip to Somnath

Overall it was a very good trip, we were able to cover most of the places mentioned on the itinerary. Well planned and executed. Somnath and Gir was a very good experience. Dwarka was not that much good due to rush and crowd mismanagement. Transportation : Was very good, driver was very much helpful and understanding. Hotels : Dwarka, Somnath were exceptionally well with good restaurants. i would rate 4/5 for those places. Resort in Gir was not so good compared to other two places, ambience was great but room , pool were not so good. i would rate 2/5 due to cleanliness issues and restaurant not taking any orders was just having common buffet. Staff were helpful in all places, would rate 4/5.

Abhishekdudwadkar's 5 days trip to Somnath

Had a good experience for sightseeing areas of Gujarat and found it extra convenient and comfortable in Kia Carens. Driver was also good.. And special thanks to Payal madam for helping out in making itineraries. Hotels and their service were good except Shlok In where food service was not satisfactory otherwise it was nice. Just few suggestions it would be good if we can get an ordered list of places as per route with their timings. Because many places had their timings. Also, one will get an idea where to reach on which time and how much time to spend on particular spot.
