Historical Places in Solan

Nalagarh Palace: This palace holds a rich history which is reflected by its marvellous architecture and incredible history. Nalagarh Palace was once the capital of the Hindu state and in the present time this beautiful place which fascinates the tourists. Resting at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills, standing here one can embrace the entire landscape view of the Nalagarh Town. Now this heritage place has been converted into a resort where one can enjoy a royal stay while visiting Solan.

Kuthar Fort: Kuthar Fort is a beautiful architectural gem which is located amidst the serene beauty of the Himalayas. Spread across an area of 52.8 sq. kilometres, this historical fort rests in the middle of the pristine background and magnificent gardens. There are some sectors in the fort which were built around 800 years ago and some were constructed just 8 decades ago. The fort is also known for boasting a number of fresh-water springs. Alongside this, there are other locations like the Gurkha fort, Kunihar and Kasauli hill station which are located just in the vicinity.

Solan Brewery: This is one of the most interesting historical places in Solan which definitely adds a unique experience to the bucket list. Established in 1855, the Solan Brewery is considered as one of the oldest breweries in the country which witnesses a huge crowd. Initially, this brewery was managed by the Englishmen, and now it is taken over by Mohan Meakin Limited. This place is indeed worth a visit.

Dagshai Jail: Another amazing place among the historic places in Solan is the Dagshai Jail Museum. This place was formerly a prison inside which Mahatma Gandhi spent a day voluntarily to support the Irish Independence from the United Kingdom. This is the only jail which has been converted into a museum after India got independence from the British.
