Manpreet's 6 days trip to Tamil Nadu

I recently booked the trip and covered Madurai, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari and Kovalam. This was my 3rd trip via Travel Triangle The booking process was smooth. Travel agent customized as per my needs, adjusting Hotels. Trip was good and memorable. Driver was punctual, covered all the places. However there were 2 things which were not upto the mark. Driver didn't know Hindi and had very limited knowledge of English, so there was communication barrier. Kovalam was planned on Monday, on which some tourist places are closed. We got to know this only upon reaching there. Dhanushkodi point and Kovalam beach

Suman's 6 days trip to Kerala

This was my second trip to Kerala and I booked a package for 5N 6D with Postcard travels which costed me around 62K for 4 adults and 1 child. 1.My trip started from Munnar and we were booked at a hotel Atwood which was at Pottankadu which is atleast 15 kms from main attractions at Munnar which is I think OK as in the main city of Munnar we don't have pretty good hotels. But the room provided to us at first was horrible as it didnt even have any window. which after a few discussions with the manager at the hotel, they were kind to change it to 2 suite rooms for 2 nights which I am very thankful for. but the food there was very BAD. you get only 2 options in breakfast, either idli-sambhar or set dosa and bread(not toasted)and butter which tasted sweet. at dinner on first night , we ordered dal fry, phulka and some chilly dish(i dont remember), the phulkas were like the size of a puri and the dal fry was not good at all. so the second night, we preferred to get our dinner from outside. 2. On our 3rd day, we went to Allepey where we reached our houseboat where the only the captain of the houseboat knew some english and was able to understand but the cooks weren't able to understand us. the lunch was seved right away and it was OK-ish as we were pretty hungry at 3 Pm and had our food without any issues. but the houseboat has a policy that the ACs will only work from 9 PM to 6 AM which I understand because the boats work on generators and hence they won't be able to provide that much electric supply. but there wasn't even a good table fan or wall fan to sit and relax. there was only one stand fan available at the common sitting area which was almost broken and didnt work properly to cover the range of 5 people sitting in front of it on 2 sofas. at night, we were provided chicken curry in dinner which was so spicy that the adults in our group had a hard time having it, let alone there was a 5 years old child in our group. I informed about this to the cook but he just made a face(probably didnt understand what I meant, I dont know). the AC worked at night but it constantly made noises all the time like a cricket insect. 3. on our 4th day, we checked out of our houseboat at around 9:15 AM and unfortuntely, our driver's car got some issues in its brakes and we had to wait for almost 40 mins at a garage until the car got fixed, which I understand is nobody's fault as these mechanical issues can always happen. we reached Kovalam and after taking the turn from the main road at Kovalam it took almost 20-25 mins to reach our hotel, that bad was the hotel's location. Though the hotel staffs were very polite and helpful, they didnt understand much english so we had a hard time ordering food from restaurant which also didnt have much options even if they said they had so many items in their menu card. Though their was a walking path that directly went into the Lighthouse beach and it just took 5 mins walking to reach there, but by car, the hotel is pretty interior to reach. 4. on our 4 th day, we had out Kanyakumari trip scheduled and driver said we need to leave by 10 AM but as were not well after the long drive from Allepey to Kovalam the day before, we left at 11 AM but asked the driver if we could skip waiting at Poovar and directly go to Kanyakumari but he said there's a 1.5-2hours waiting time to get the permit at Tamilnadu border and so we had out boatride at Poovar during that time and then we stopped for lunch midway to Kanyakumari. Throughout all this time, driver didn't mention once that the ticket window for the ferry to Vivekananda Rock closes at 4 PM and so when we reached the gates at 4:15 PM, we found the window closed and weren't able to visit Vivekakanada rock and instead watched it from the shores itself. 5. After the Kanyakumari disaster, we planned to get ready on time and asked the driver when do we need to leave from Kovalam to visit the Padmanabhaswamy temple at Trivandrum, so he mentioned that the temple closes at 12 PM and we need to checkout from hotel and leave Kovalam by 10 AM the next day. So we were ready in time, checked out from our hotel and reached the parking(which was around 200 m from the hotel reception) at 10 :15 AM but the driver had already texted me on Whatsapp at 5:40 AM that he is leaving for his home due to an emergency and he arranged for a separate cab for airport drop after temple visit, but the new cab somehow arrived at the parking where we were standing at around 10:50 AM and this new cab's driver didnt understand a single word of english except 'OK'. we somehow reached the temple at 11:40 AM , entered the temple with our dhotis on but the queue was long that the temple closed its main gate where we do darshan at 12 AM and we weren't able to do our darshan. we left from the temple after looking around for sometime at 12:15 PM and went to have lunch at a hotel midway and asked the driver to drop us at airport at around 3 PM.

Overall we had good trip because of good driver Mr Anand S. Glad that we got early check in MGM Gardens Madurai with cooperation from Mr Sahil. The hotel in Rameshwaram was too small to accommodate 3 persons. 1 being a 10 yr kid. Overall we are satisfied with this trip. Murugan temple Madurai, Danushkodi, Pamban bridge and Vivekanand memorial rock at Kanyakumari.

Hotel arrangements were good, itinerary planning was customized based on our request. Dream yatra planned it well for our Madurai, Rameswaram and Kanyakumari trip. Booked hotels were good and as described by agent. Hotel staff were also kind and helpful. Driver booked was local to Tamilnadu and we had some difficult time in communicating, he knew broken Hindi, which helped sometimes. But was disappointed as the driver did not know the full itinerary planned by agent, he had his list of destinations which were mix of what we had planned and something of his own, like shopping centres for sarees. Overall it was a very good experience, but I would recommend agents to properly inform the drivers on their itinerary.

Hotel Clouds Valley at Munnar was only Good Rest Sopanam Heritage Guruvyaur was very clumsy with no AC it was very hot to stay, even the fan was also not in good condition food was not at all good and over rated. Ocean Heritage at Kanyakumari was also not good all old furniture and damp smell , breakfast was ok, near to the temple. Worst experience at Kovalam Adams Beach resort which was the most awaited part of the tour, no doubt it is near to beach but the road to reach hotel was like roller coster and we have to park our vehicle far away from the hotel has it cannot go till hotel . Even there was no road we have to cross narrow lanes between homes which felt like slum area. Food was also not good and staff were more friendly only to foreign customers. And the rooms were located on the second floor with no lifts only staircase which was very steep. Here we had 2 nights stay which we cancelled and left for Trivandrum. Allepey’s Pagoda Resort was the last destination which was also not up to the mark of expectation. No doubt big rooms but not kept properly old type furniture and locks , there was timing for hot water and so far from the city that you cannot go by yourself anywhere around. Food was ok hotel staff getting confused if ask something. I would suggest not to go for Adams beach resort and Pagoda beach resort strongly. Our tour adviser Mr Ankit Khariya co-ordinate well , but my advise to Mr Ankit when you are busy with any function where in you cannot attend the phone atleast he should depute some one to attend the call

Amol's 6 days trip to Tamil Nadu

Not kind of experience tour should have. (********Also All the hotels were booked with complementary breakfast for all 4. The reference for the same will be come below in my review. do read it carefully). Though the tour started on positive notes it went down and down day by day.. We wanted to get freshen up as we had been travelling whole night. We visited Poovar Island after starting the trip at 6:00 AM in the morning. We started with nice tour of the Island after freshening up and after island tour started for our first destination Kanyakumari at around 10:30 AM. This is where first twist to our tour started. Driver told me that his agent has asked for cab money to be transferred as soon as we reach hotel. I was surprised to hear this as I had booked the tour from some other agent(Through Travel Triangle) and why cab agency was asking amount for. I knew the balance amount was to be paid on first day of starting the tour however in place of Travel Triangle asking the amount I was asked by sub agent and that too only for cab. Not sure when trip was booked from Travel Triangle how sub agency is asking amount for. When checked with my agent he asked to pay the amount and sent me watsapp message with breakup of amount to be transferred in below way: Cab: Rs. xxxxx Kovalam: Rs. xxxx Madurai: Rs. xxxx I summed up all the amount and paid to Cab agent directly as there was no clear instruction as only cab amount was to be paid to cab agent and other amount was to be paid directly to the hotels. After multiple discussions it was decided cab agency will pay for rest of my hotels in Madurai and Kovalam as I had settled my dues. On reaching Madurai after day long travel and sight seeing at 8:30 PM next twist awaited for us. On visiting reception to do check in formalities, the formalities were completed however the staff there told me that booking amount has to be paid before check in and I was totally lost as what is this happening? I am travelling whole day cleared all my dues to the travel agent and he haven't paid the amount to the hotel? The hotel should had receive amount well in advance and I should had been room as soon as the formalities were over. instead I had to call my agent, then sub agent and then all things got sorted out which took another 15-20 mins. Next morning started pretty as usual however another turn was awaiting for me. *****While having breakfast, on table my little one was having breakfast along with me, my wife and my elder child and suddenly one person came and told me that complementary breakfast is only for 3 of us and for my younger child I need to pay the amount. My younger one is not so small that she will not understand what was going on and suddenly she stopped eating. I told the person that we will pay and asked younger one to continue. This is not the way one need to tell us on the breakfast table that we need to pay the amount. this need to be told prior or while settling dues. However when I went for payment the reception staff only asked for payment for the beverages we ordered in room. On enquiring for breakfast amount they told that it was misunderstanding and it was for some other guests and not for us. But again this is not the way to treat the guests when on breakfast table. We started our next leg of trip with the sourness already put in by the Madurai hotel restaurant staff. On the way to Kovalam we visited Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Palace which is huge and then checked in the hotel. Went to the beach in the evening and enjoyed there. Next day before starting for final leg all dues were cleared at the hotel reception however next Hurdle awaited us. As soon as we boarded our CAB the hotel employee came running and stopped us from starting as balance payment was not made by the agent. We had to call the agent multiple times before the payment was cleared, and had to wait in scorching heat for almost 45 mins before we started(this was not expected at all even after making full payment guests are kept on the toes). Finally after starting visited zoo, museum, however were not able to visit Padmanabhswamy temple due to huge rush. The temple opened at 5:00 PM however the rush was soo heavy that the driver as well as couple of locals told us that it would take min 4-4.5 hrs for darshan in normal line and atleast 3 hrs in special line. Also locals told that if the darshan timings are over we can wait for next morning darshan in line. Keeping in mind the time for darshan and travel back we decided against the same. Also it was wise decision keeping in mind the hectic tour younger daughter's age and as it rained heavily as soon as we reached airport. Now to Hotels: 1. Kanyakumari-- Nice hotel with sea view. Was able to see the monuments from my room. However I had booked for family couple with one child without bed and one with extra mattress, I was not provided extra mattress in the room and 4 had to adjust on same bed.(Was ok as we had just 1 night) 2. Rameswaram: 1st room provided was having lot of bugs and cockroaches in the room. My room was changed after discussion with manager and showing them the cockroaches roaming even on beds. 2nd room provided was also having same issue however number was very less comparatively. Had to be cautious that bugs or cockroaches do not enter my luggage or eatables. 2 nights stay was ok kind of. 3. Madurai: Room provided was ok as we checked in there very late evening(almost around 8.00 PM). However main twist came here when we were told that balance amount has not been paid and checkin would be possible only after balance payment. Also as mentioned in the main details while having breakfast, at the table I was told the amount need to be paid for breakfast for my younger child(which was already been paid and was complementary for all 4 of us) due to which she suddenly stopped having her breakfast and I had to tell her to have her breakfast properly and not to worry for other things. This was ridiculous as other guests also started staring at us on hearing this. The staff might have told same thing in person before or after finishing breakfast. Even before speaking they should had checked at reception where amount was already paid. 4. Kovalam: We had to request for room on the upper floor having sea view. However the sea view was not visible from there too as the hotel is in too interior and the view is blocked by other buildings standing infront. Not the kind of room we would have liked to stay. very old kind of room with A/c not operational. Even on keeping it 16 degree the room was not getting cooled. Finally.. The trip was not at all well organized and I will give Poor rating for over all trip and would not recommend this to any of the family members and known people.
