Honeymoon in Madurai: rated 4/5 (based on 23 reviews) | Packages starting from 14,449/-

Madurai, the city that never sleeps, is located in Tamil Nadu and is 3rd most populous city in the state. The heritage and culture of this city is its USP and be assured about having the best time after booking Madurai honeymoon packages. The city of Madurai is also known as the “Athens of the East” due to the similarity in the style of architecture with Athens. The city attracts pilgrims as well as tourists.

Madurai was built around the Meenakshi Amman Temple and is therefore the major attraction and the top place to visit. The temple has been in existence for nearly 3500 years. The temple is huge and also contains 1000 pillared hall, shrines, pond with the golden lotus and much more to explore. The exact word to define this temple would be ‘marvellous’ and the sheer structure of the temple is jaw-dropping.

The festivals are the focal point of the culture of Madurai. The vibrance and magnificence of Madurai is easily showcased in the spirit of the people during the festive period. Pongal Festival ( Harvest Festival) in January and Chithirai Festival in March/April are some key festivals. Also a very controversial yet integral part of the Ponagal festival is Jallikatttu in which men and bulls are pitted against each other. Be sure to witness this daring sport when in Madurai.

The time when the travel to Madurai would be most suitable is from October till April when the weather is just right and festivals are commencing. The monsoon season starts from late April and travelling to the southern india should be avoided to excessive rains and humidity in the monsoon. The journey will be more enjoyable after purchasing customisable couple tour packages to Madurai.

Reaching Madurai is a piece of cake as Madurai has its own airport as well as railway junction making it accessible by train and air, and has great connectivity with all the parts of India via roads. The nearest international airport is in Chennai which is 440 km away. Booking honeymoon tour packages to Madurai will be more beneficial and time conserving.

    • Trip to Kerala

We have mixed experience as far as hotels are concerned. Hotel Pine Tree staff behavior was excellent, they even provided extra bed without any additional cost, food and tea were also of very good quality but their beds were too soft and spongy to be comfortable. Hotel Season Thekkady at Thekkady was comfortable but their food (breakfast) was not good. Houseboat at Alleppy was nice, however there was some cleanliness issue. Children enjoyed the stay at Houseboat. Location of Hotel God's Own Villa at Kovalam was good, however earlier informed hotel was better located. Hotel was good at Kovlam but their food was of substandard quality. Hotel Sea View at Kanyakumari was very good. It's location was perfect. The best hotel in the whole trip we got was at Rameshwaram. Star Palace hotel was perfect and their staff behavior was excellent. They also tried and provided us two suits and one double bed room instead of three double bedrooms without asking for any additional charges. Location of Hotel Lotus at Madurai was also great. Breakfast was also of very good quality though they have no restaurant of their own and arrange it in collaboration of a restaurant situated just in front. As far as vehicle is concerned, it was comfortable but it was not in accordance of what was quoted in the quotation prior and after booking. In place of 9 seater AC Luxry Tempo Traveller we were provided with a 12 seater AC Tempo traveller. Vehicle was also not in best of the condition. But the drniver Mr. Vijay Krishna was excellent. He was very polite, honest, soft spoken, reliable and possess excellent driving capability. We shall always remember him.

I would like to thank to Mr.Rakesh. He done a good arrangement for my 5D4N trip Rameswaram-Madurai-Tiruchy. He understood my needs and he has arranged my solo trip to Rameshwaram-Madurai-Tiruchy as per my customized itinerary. The driver (Mr. Madhu) was very humble and safely picked and dropped me to each and every places accordingly. Overall it was a hassel free package and I really enjoyed the trip.

    • Trip to Karnataka

It was a well arranged trip from Bangalore to Mysore (2days and 1night) by Madurai Eco Tourism. Cab: Very neat and comfortable. Driver: Velu's driving was good. But I think he should be familiar with the routes a bit more. We couldn't visit Brindavan gardens due to raining. Instead Driver suggested Srirangapatanam. We reached there by around 3:30pm. But temple opening time was 4pm. Before entering in to the temple he told we have to leave soon as he need to go another trip at Bangalore by 7:30. Since we don't want miss visiting the temple, i told him to wait for sometime. After temple opens we suddenly finished our visit asap and get back to the cab. Before reaching our home (around 11km back) driver dropped us near a metro station, and requested us to take uber or ola from there. It was very difficult for us to manage packing our luggage suddenly to shift the cab as I was travelling with my 3year old son. But since he requested we had to agree. But he is a good driver still I recommend for such trips. Hotel: (casa meridian mysore) It is a 3star oyo hotel at Mysore arranged for night stay. But their service was very disappointed. Hotel room was ok and neat enough. But restaurant food on the 5th floor was very bad. We were offered free breakfast. It was very bad quality. They were serving same curry for all dishes. Thanks. We visited First day: St.Philomina Church, Mysore silk saree shop, Mysore palace. 2and day: Chamundi hills, Srirangapatanam Thanks

Thanks Travel Triangle for the memorable trip (I am giving 3 out of 5 for your agent’s service) but i have faced some problems as described below otherwise I could rate 5 out of 5. 1) CAB driver (3 out of 5): He is very good guy and polite, but the only problem is communication (he can't speak or understand basic English/Hindi he knows only Tamil) which causes a lot of problem/misunderstanding and we missed some important places in my journey plan. 2) PKN Residency Hotel at Madurai (3 out of 5): I stayed for 1 night with my family and the hotel room is just OK, but the wash room is very dirty, the hotel staff are aged and are unprofessional.

    • Trip to Madurai

I have visited two times earlier with travel triangle, and my experience was excellent and we enjoyed our tour. Now come to my latest visit to Tamilnadu with Miles 2 Fly and I am very much disappointed. Start with Rameshwaram , we reached railway station but pick up was not available at station, driver said that your train arrived before time so I'm not at station. Any how we managed to reach at hotel , hotel Rameshwaram Grande is nice hotel. Next day morning Miles 2 Fly called us frequently until balance payment made. Now come to Kanyakumari, the hotel provided is a average hotel. Two rooms given to me, after check in we found that AC is not working, informed to reception but AC could not repaired. I personally went to reception and requested for room change, but they denied to change. I called to Miles 2 Fly they said, wait for sometime we are talking to hotel. But no phone call came to hotel, after long argument when we are going to check out at mid night, they changed our room. Now lastly come to Madurai they provided us worst hotel, before check in I called to Miles 2 Fly and told about hotel condition and sent photos to them. They said we are talking to our sales team and finally they avoided my phone calls, till 2-3 hrs we were at reception of hotel. After that we called Ms Jyoti of travel trangle and told her about hotel, she clearly told that we can not interfere into the matter, it is customer duty to check the hotel before finalization of deal. Finally we spent one horrible night at this hotel. Hotel name is M3 boutique. One more thing is to speak, Ms Jyoti promised us for Rs 500/- discount on deal, but till now no refund is received. So overall I can say Miles 2 Fly is not a good agent and they can not assist you during the tour, their hotels category is also very cheap, so before you book with this agent, think twice. Similarly during your tour if you want any assistance from the Travel Triangle they can not help you any way.

    • Trip to Madurai

Overall Trip was good. I stayed at Kodai Resort. I booked cab for 4 days from Madurai to Kodai To Maduari. Except from itinerary for sight seeing in Kodai , Cab was supposed to be with me in case needed, like for dinner at night {if you don't want to want at hotel obviously} but Mr Karthik was trying to convince me that cab is booked only for sight seeing while booking but, no where I communicated about itinerary from the starting . That was the only communication gap I found. But in the end Mr Karthik and Daniel supported well and provided the cab whenever I required. Thanks to Daniel/Karthik for that. Overall support . For Kodai Resort try to take upper rooms instead of down one. You have to walk down through stairs if you will take down rooms and while climbing you will feel tired. Instead of Tracking Tour take Village Tour that will be good.

There is no shortage of tourist places in Madurai. Tirumalai Nayak Palace is a one splendid attraction in Madurai. Built in 1636, this palace has seen some rough times and has been renovated majorly. There is a light and sound show every evening which should not be missed. There is also Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai which contains several items owned by MK Gandhi. To beat the hustle bustle of this city, one might want to visit the Samanar hills located in Keelakuyilkudi village, 15 kilometres from Madurai. Travellers might  also want to visit the St. Mary’s Cathedral which is located in East Veli Street in Madurai. The hymns and carols will soothe and calm the body and mind.

There is no such nightlife in Madurai but the city compensates for this in the form of Puthu Mandapam located opposite to the Meenakshi temple east tower which sells fabric, scarves, jewellery, fashion accessories, handicrafts and artworks. The shoppers are swept off their feet by the rich quality and the affordable prices. Add a visit to this marketplace in your customised Madurai honeymoon package. If one goes bananas over bananas then do give a visit to the Madurai’s banana wholesale market to purchase different varieties of bananas.

Travelling without trying out the local cuisine is a sin. Make sure to try paruthi paal, jigarthanda, panangkarkandu paal and chettinadu varieties like appam, kuzhi paniyaram, etc when you travel to Madurai. Also refresh the body with jil jil jigarthanda,a drink, prepared using milk, china grass (Commonly known as "Kadal Paasi" in Tamil), sarsaparilla syrup and ice-cream. Do not forget to stop by at Murugan Idli Shop to have lip-smacking and mind-boggling dosas and idlis.

As this city never sleeps, this city never disappoints. Travel to Madurai and witness the grandeur and brilliance of this city, the enthusiasm and unity of the people, and the power and strength of their culture. Take out time and visit this ageless city of Madurai where lies the soul of Tamil Nadu.
