Mysore has evolved from the ‘Royal City’ to an upcoming IT hub. With its palaces and ornate temples as well as gardens and galleries, Mysore has attractions to cater to every need of tourists. The magnificent Mysore Palace, bustling street markets and the huge Mysore Zoo never let travellers down. Here's a brief description on how to reach Mysore from Mumbai via available means of transport.
By Air: Currently, there are no direct flights to Mysore Airport from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. The distance from Mumbai to Mysore by air is 855 kms which can either be covered by taking a connecting flight which increases the time consumed. The other option is to take a direct flight from Mumbai to Bangalore and then taking a bus or a cab to travel to Mysore for about 50 minutes. This option can take around 6 hours which is much faster than taking connecting flights. However, the costs remain high and the use of flights to travel from Mumbai to Mysore is infrequent.
By Train: There are a couple of direct trains that connect Mumbai to Mysore. The distance between Mumbai to Mysore by train is 1062 kms and the time taken can be more or less 22 hours. The two direct trains are Sharavathi Express which operates from Dadar to Mysore junction and the Ajmer Mysore express which starts from Ajmer, passes from Kalyan junction in Mumbai to Mysore Junction. However, these trains are weekly or biweekly. One can also opt for trains connecting Mumbai to Bangalore and then travel from Bangalore to Mysore either by train or Road.
By Road: The Mumbai to Mysore distance by road is around 1045 kms. Most of the journey takes place on national and state Highways which are in excellent condition and allow one to enjoy the change of the surrounding scenery as they travel from countryside to cities. However, travelling from Mumbai to Mysore by car is not recommended as it gets exhausting and also it’s both expensive and time consuming. Driving from Mumbai to Mysore can take 17 to 18 hours. There are many KSRTC buses with AC and other facilities that travel directly from Mumbai to Mysore and can be booked online conveniently.

Chiragksarvaiya's 6 days trip to MysoreThe only problem we faced was a proper plan should have been arranged from the travel agent side and not left on us to decide which places should be seen when. Due to this lacking of coordination between driver and Syed we were not able to see Bandipur National Park or Mudumalai National park, we were in the impressions that we would get a chance to see any one of the place, overall good experience, good hotel @ Mysore, and Ooty was average and good resort at Coorg. Driver Inayat was not that decent, sometimes he even drove rash, we clearly told him that we had a kid with us but he didnt listen to that and drove as per his convenience. He was not cleaning the cab on daily basis, we had to remind him for that.
Nsundaresan's 5 days trip to MysoreThe hotel booked in Murudeshwar and Mangalore was not upto the mark. Places that were mentioned to be visited were not completely covered. Could have been a better one.
Guru's 2 days trip to MysoreIt was nicely planned family trip by Sky travel / Ms.Suman Rawath. She was follow with myself from booking to till end of the trip. , We enjoyed a lot.

Runaliambolikar's 5 days trip to Mysorethank you so much travel triangle for giving us very well managed trip with foxplore travels. We went Coorg & Chikmagalur, as it's only girls trip, Mr. Gagan take care of everything. Driver's behaviour is also very polite and also guide us in Coorg. Surely we will travel again with Travel triangle and foxplore travels.
Megh's 5 days trip to MysoreThe trip was good except for the several calls we got from travel triangle and the travel agent for the Utr number of payment already done. It was very much disappointing that even when the payment was made and confirmed, yet travel triangle required the Utr number from us.
Return not booked
Seshadrikanchi's 3 days trip to MysoreCoorg trip was memorable and well organised experience for me. At the last moment Mr. Gagan arranged everything and managed very well. driver is also very polite and friendly in nature. We would love to travel again with travel triangle.
Jyotisatija's 7 days trip to MysoreIt wasn't a well planned trip. We spent more time in the traveling rather than sightseeing. Distance and time should have been mentioned in the itinerary for the travelers. The other thing is we were very much unsatisfied with the hotels/resorts provided (location, services and the standard). It was like a reducing slope. When I agreed with the 3-star deluxe rooms, the standard should have been maintained throughout. Overall it wasn't a very good trip, I would say. Specially after we had a wonderful 7 days experience in our Kerala trip from "Kerala Travel Exotica". The only good thing was the cab and the driver (Mr. Sathish) provided.
Bhartikumar's 4 days trip to MysoreOver all it was a great experience, Hotels were good.
