How To Reach Mysore From Delhi

By Air: Due to the large Delhi to Mysore distance of 1819 km, travelling by air seems to be one of the most convenient way. Since there are no direct flights from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi to Mysore airport, one has to either opt for a connecting flight or take a flight to Bangalore. Hop on a KSRTC bus or hire a cab to travel from Bangalore to Mysore to save both time and energy. State-owned buses, private buses, and taxis are readily available in Bangalore at affordable prices. The journey from Delhi to Mysore can take anywhere around 7 to 8 hours or more.

By Train: Facilitated with a well developed railway station, Mysore is well connected to the rest of the country including Delhi. However, only one direct Mysore to Delhi train runs weekly i.e. the Swarna Jayanthi covering a distance of 2600 km. It is the cheapest option, but takes about 2 days and 2 nights which can be tiring for some people. There are other trains from Delhi to Bangalore after which one can travel to Mysore by taxi/bus.

By Road: The distance from Delhi to Mysore by road is around 2300 km because they lie in extreme corners of India. It is thus advisable not to travel by road. Driving from Delhi to Mysore can take around 2 days and 2 nights which is an extremely difficult and tiring task. It is not very cost efficient as well. Thus, most people prefer trains and flights over roadways. However, some people do travel from Delhi to Mysore by car or bus for the adventure and thrill involved.
