By Air: The Pune to Mysore distance by air is 756 kms. No direct flights are available from Pune to Mysore. Hence, one has to take connecting flights which are also less frequently available. A better option is to take a flight from Pune to Bangalore and then hop on a cab or a state owned bus (KSRTC) which directly takes one from Bangalore to Mysore. This takes less time than all the other alternatives but it might be costlier. However, it is worth the time and energy saved. Some airlines providing this service are TruJet and IndiGo.

By Train: Pune to Mysore trains are popular among tourists and used most frequently when travelling this distance. There are 3 direct trains that cover a distance of 969 kms from Pune to Mysore. The fastest and the cheapest is Swarna Jayanti which can take around 19 to 20 hours. Other trains include Sharavathi Express and Ajmer Mysore Express. Travelling by train seems to be the cheapest option as compared to other alternatives even though the time taken increases.

By Road: The distance from Pune to Mysore by road is around 924 kms. This distance can be covered by a driving in about 15 hours. The shortest route from NH 48 has various tolls. Other routes  without tolls are quite longer. The drive can be long and tiring, however, the adventure of the road trip, the picturesque landscape and delicious food on the way make it worth the effort and time. One can also use direct Pune to Mysore buses that take the same amount of time.
