Alleppey Tourist Information

Here's some important information as recommended by Lakhs of our travelers

Here is some essential Alleppey tourist information that you might need on your travels to the beautiful city and backwaters of Alleppey.

When visiting Alleppey, don’t go with preconceived notions of it being just another backwaters destination. It is much more than that; all you need to do is to explore it extensively. Make sure to take along an Alleppey tourist map, if you can find one with distance and directions to the most popular attractions of the place, and you will be all set to enjoy a great trip.

Nightlife in Alleppey: Being a small town in rural Kerala, there isn’t much of a nightlife here. The bars and pubs, few as they are, are located right on the edge of the city and don’t offer much in the way of excitement. There are several restaurants in the city center if you are hankering for a taste of local delicacies other than what is available at the houseboat. Some of these restaurants specialize in South Indian cuisine, whereas some offer a global food menu, including Chinese, Italian, and Continental. If you are looking for a couple of drinks only, then it is advisable to go to these bars. Otherwise, it is better to stay in at your houseboat. In fact, the houseboat cruises in the evenings, which take you to the edge of the sea, is all the excitement that you might need when here. Imagine watching the sun set over the horizon, seemingly near enough to touch, and you will be able to understand the beauty of the place. What else could you possibly need?

Food in Alleppey: One of the best-known fact about Alleppey is that it offers some of the best seafood in the state. Starting from fishes of several varieties to crabs, octopuses, mussels and a lot more, you name it, and Kerala has it. Alleppey is a great place for seafood aficionados. However, good food in Alleppey is not limited to just seafood, since it is a great destination for vegetarians to have their fill of delicious food as well. Alleppey traditional food includes the staple dishes of the state, including dosas, idlis, appams, and other rice based dishes. Toddy, a strong local alcoholic liquor, is a must-have drink when here.

Shopping in Alleppey: Alleppey is famous for its coir products, made from the fibers of coconut husks. Carpets are also pretty well-known, and if you have can transport one home then make sure to buy one. You can also shop for the freshest spices at the local markets. The spices bought from here are comparatively of better quality than what you will find at Kochi and would be homegrown and organic. Make sure to buy some organic coconut oil and fish pickles also. These keep well, and you can take them home when you return. Junk jewelry, made of bronze, are also available here. You can also get all shopping related information of Alleppey from your houseboat or hotel management, and they can point you in the right direction.

Rajeeb's 4 days trip to Alleppey

I booked the package tour before I month of my Tour. I was very excited about this tour. My tour was from Aluva (Kerela) to Munnar and Thekaddy in Kerala. It was a road trip from Aluva. I will give my genuine Feedback. I had a discussion with Mr. Digipal Jee from Travel Triangle and Mr. Ankit from the local travels company. I would like to say that the vehicle (Desire) which was assigned to me was not up to the mark. The AC was not working properly. The temperature was very high but anyways I managed. But my Blood pressure was high when the driver asked me money for petrol. They don't even have the communication that I have paid the entire amount to Travel Triangle two days back. Thereafter I called my so called agent Mr. Digipal Jee and Ankit Jee, thereafter the issue got resolved. This shows that they are not professionals and Poor Communication between their travel agents and travel triangle. My Hotel bookings in Munnar was at "Hotel Star Emirates" it was a 4 Star Property but here also the same issue no communication on the payment matter. The receptionist asked me about the payment and here also I called Mr. Digipal Jee and Ankit and clarified that the entire amount has been paid to Travel Triangle before two days back. My family was suffering and we waited for 1 hour for Check-in. Poor Co-ordination. Now review on Room. I stayed their for 2 Nights and till my entire stay the Intercom (A Major source of Communication within the Hotel) was not working. When I complained they just told that it will be rectified soon. But till my checkout the Phone was out of order. They gave me duty manager's contact number and asked I can call in this number if anything is required. But when my son tried calling in this number to order Noodles for him the phone was not responding at that time. I waited for 10 mins in my room but i didn't recieved any kind of response form the hotel end. It was my big mistake to book my Package from Travel Triangle. I am sorry I will never repeat this mistake once Again. They also charged me Rs. 1000 extra because my son's actual age was 13 instead of I mentioned 12 Years while booking this package. The Gentleman from Travel Triangle Mr. Digipal Jee called me directly and asked to pay Rs. 1000 extra at Hotel only because my son is 1 year more elder than what I register. My point is I managed lot of non-cooperation from the travel agent but they can't managed a single mistake from my end. Thanks Travel Triangle for all this....I will never ever repeat this kind of mistake in my life.

Hiteshvijay's 4 days trip to Alleppey

It was a pleasant experience, very well organised and very helpful people. Hotels at munnar was little far away from Munnar, however it was good. The cab person and the car quality was excellent. The Breakfast items at Munnar was a bit concern as very limited options. It is better to book hotels without breakfast, as it is too costly. Overall a good experience and can again plan with you.

Pavithran's 5 days trip to Alleppey

I went for a trip to Kerala and chose Postcard for it. Nikita from the team was assisting me throughout. It was end-end well organized. They took care of everything from scratch and helped with plan as per our need. Communication was proper across the trip. Nikita was available to address all queries throughout the trip. I strongly recommend Postcard. I went for a trip to Kerala and chose Postcard for it. Nikita from the team was assisting me throughout. It was end-end well organized. Rvaishya's 5 days trip to Alleppey

Overall it was a well organised trip. Thanks Comforts for taking care of travel and setting up the iteniary. Hotels were clean and comfortable except the Houseboat. Only thing I wished it could have been better would be stay and good in Houseboat. Very limited option in Houseboat. Food didn't had any variety. Also, I booked honeymoon decoration which was missed by the houseboat team. Overall, it was good. Appreciate driver which took us most of the places as in iteniary. Munnar was excellent. Driver was friendly as well.

The travel agent were always available and were easy to contact if any inconvenience happened which was very helpful for us. The car and driver facilities were good and pleasing. The hotels provided for stay at different locations had nice accommodation but slight services and facilities in certain hotels were not so good that could be improved. The overall trip was satisfactory and nice.

Exotic trails (and especially Pradeesh) made the whole journey splendid, smooth and quite an enjoyable one. He was knowledgeable abt the places, had engaging conversations, very helpful and resourceful during the entire trip. He was quite flexible with timings, punctual, cooperative and adding value to the itinerary. With his knowledge and travel experience was able to drive around different routes/places and made the trip a memorable one..I would recommend exotic trails/travel triangle to my friends Toy train, thalaauveri, mandapatty peak

Sdd's 4 days trip to Alleppey

we had booked for 2 nights in Thekkady and 1 night in Alleppey house boat. The arrangement by Trip Sailer was done very conveniently and the stay was very good especially in Thekkady. Only thing thing I want to highlight is the hotel was hesitating to accept the credit card and later I had to convince them with the 6% service charges for accepting the card. They wanted us to pay in cash or UPI payment. Same thing happened in House boat too. We paid cash payment there. The great thing was the transport. The driver Mr. Joseph was so helpful and became a very good friend of us when leaving.
