You can take a flight to the nearest airport or a train to the nearest railway station, but either way you would have to hire a cab from there to reach Alleppey. The railway station is located in the heart of the city and offers connections to various cities across the country such as Trivandrum, Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi, and Cochin. Buses, taxis, and auto rickshaws are readily available outside the railway station to take you to the backwaters.
