Marine Drive Kochi entry fee (it is free)

There is no entry fee for Marine Drive. It is a public promenade maintained by the Greater Cochin Development Authority, so walking, sitting by the water or watching the sunset costs nothing. You only spend on the extras: a boat ride, a cruise, car parking, or snacks from the stalls along the walk. Boating price at Marine Drive Kochi

Boating is the main paid activity here, and the price swings a lot by boat type. The cheapest option is a shared country boat at roughly Rs 100 a person for about an hour on the backwaters. The luxury tourist boat is quoted lower per head, around Rs 75, because it runs fixed group slots. Private fibreglass boats cost more: about Rs 450 for a small one and Rs 1,200 for a larger boat that seats up to eight. Book at the Ernakulam boat jetty counter next to the promenade. Rates move with fuel and season, so confirm at the counter before you step in.

Sunset and harbour cruises

For the evening, the sunset cruise is the popular pick. It runs around Rs 250 for an adult and Rs 150 for a child for a sail of roughly two hours, timed to catch the sun going down over the harbour, usually between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Longer harbour cruises start near Rs 1,000 for an hour and go up to about Rs 3,000 for three hours. These are often private charters, so the per-head cost drops when you fill the boat with a group. Cruise names and operators change through the year, so check the current sailing at the jetty before you pay.

The Rainbow ('London') Bridge walkway is free

The arched pedestrian bridge on the promenade, which many visitors search for as the 'London Bridge' of Kochi, is officially the Rainbow Bridge. There is no ticket to walk across it. It is one of the most photographed spots on Marine Drive, at its best at dusk when the lights come on, and it stays open as part of the free promenade. Timings, parking and best time to visit

The promenade itself is a free public space you can walk at any time of day. The boating and jetty counters keep shorter hours, roughly 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, while the evening cruises run later. Car parking near the promenade costs about Rs 40 for a private vehicle, and there is no separate camera charge. The best time to visit is late afternoon into the evening, when the heat drops and the sunset and city lights come into their own. Getting there and the ferry fare

Marine Drive sits on the Ernakulam side of the Kochi backwaters, an easy walk from the town centre and the Ernakulam boat jetty.
