Lakes in Leh

Known for its picturesque vista, Ladakh never disappoints. Ladakh is blessed with breathtaking landscapes and countless lakes. The Lakes in Ladakh are called ‘Tso’. The best time to visit these lakes is between the months of May and September. During the winter months, the high altitude lakes get frozen. The most famous lake in Ladakh is the long, narrow, and enchanted Pangong Tso. The lake changes color from emerald green to varying hues of sky and velvet blue due to sunlight. It is the world’s highest saltwater lake located at an altitude of around 14,270 feet above sea level. Tso Moriri, Tso Kar, Mirpal Tso, Chagar Tso, Kiagar Tso, and Lang Tso are few other remarkable lakes to visit in Ladakh. Lakes form a big part of the humbling landscape of Ladakh. One can never have enough of the serenity that this place has to offer with every lake more awe-inspiring than the other.
