History of Pokhara:

The history of Pokhara started from the mid 18th century when the town was known as the main commercial center since it was in the middle of the old trade routes between Indian and Tibet. But when the Britishers stepped in, the trade relations between China and India got a bit deteriorated. The major turn took place in the year 1959 when there were many refugees who fled from Tibet for India. Another major change happened in the year 1968 with the addition of the Siddhartha Highway which led to Pokhara since it was easily accessible by road and that’s how it became one of the main tourist destinations for a lot of tourists.
