Best Time To Visit Odisha

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

Odisha is often referred to as the ‘Soul of India’.

The state is rich in minerals, greenery, culture, architecture, and generosity. Dotted with many temples and temple towns, Odisha is one of the most sacred places in India. Unexplored hill stations and glorious beaches also define tourism in Odisha.

The best time to visit Odisha is during the winter and autumn (from October to February) when the temperature ranges from 16°C to 30°C. The festive vibes further add to the beauty of this season, thus making it all the more apt for visiting. However, one can also plan on visiting during the shoulder season. The time from June to September forms the shoulder season. To help you decide the best time to visit Odisha, we’ve created a season-wise breakdown of the weather in Odisha

Climate in Odisha

Summer Season in Odisha

The summer season in Odisha lasts from March to June, with an average temperature of around 25°C to 37°C. Odisha weather during this time is not conducive to planning a trip here. However, even though it is not a good time to enjoy sightseeing during the day, the evenings become much cooler with a pleasant breeze blowing away the day’s heat. There are plenty of places in Odisha where you can enjoy picnics with the family, walk along the beach, partake in the historical and cultural heritage of the state or even indulge in some adventure sports. During the summer, Odisha becomes an avid traveller's playground once the sun sets.

The major festivals and events you can enjoy here include the Chandan Yatra, the Puri Rath Yatra and the Maha Vishuva Sankranti, bringing you closer to Odisha.

Monsoon Season in Odisha

The rainy season in Odisha lasts from July to September and sometimes even through mid-October, although there is considerably less rainfall here during October. The average temperature here during this season is around 25°C to 34°C. The monsoon season is not the best time to visit Odisha since the heat and humidity experienced here during this season will only make you want to stay inside your room the entire day. Apart from the discomfort of sightseeing while sweat pours over your brows, there is also the rare but looming possibility of cyclones or tornadoes hitting the coast, thereby making it unsafe from a bodily harm point of view. Due to the rains, most rivers of the state overflow and cause floods across Odisha, hampering tourist traffic. You might get many discounts and special offers on packages, accommodation, sightseeing and day trips because this is not the high season for tourists

Winter Season in Odisha

Odisha sees the highest number of travellers during the winter as the weather is dry and cool, thus making it apt for sightseeing. Moreover, the winter season in Odisha is also the time for festivity. It is when Durga Puja is celebrated, luring many people from around the world. The festival is celebrated with a lot of gusto in the state. Konark Dance Festival is another festival celebrated during this season, making it the best time to visit Odisha. The pleasant weather also makes it suitable for roaming around and outdoor activities. However, it is also the peak season; therefore, expect crowds and price hikes.

What Travelers Say About Our Odisha Trips

Read on to find out why our customers love us!

Sudhanwa's 4 days trip to Odisha

Our experience with Inde D Voyage has been really amazing, from day of planning to the last bit of trip. Especially, they very well planned a non hectic and pleasent itinerary, considering senior citizens as major travellers. From airport pick up, a well maintained hygienic transport, well mannered driver, the selection of points to visit and the choice of hotels, were well thought of. Our impromptu requests were well accepted without spoiling the spirits of travellers and overall planning. I would recommend Inde D Voyage team, specially Mr. Shibashis Das and our chauffeur Mr. Bhagbat Das and thankful for their thorough considerations.

Gajendra's 4 days trip to Odisha

Hotel at Puri (Pride Ananya) was great in every aspect. The Adventure Hotel at Bhubaneswar was good at stay but very poor in services. Even after advance intimation from our travel agent as well as from us, they didn't provide packed breakfast as we had to leave early to take a flight. Regarding transportation, driver was great with average vehicle health. All the described places were covered and enjoyed it thoroughly.
