Day 2: Port Blair, Ross & North Bay Islands

After breakfast, transfer to the jetty and board a ferry for a half-day excursion to two islands off Port Blair. First is Ross Island (now Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep), once the administrative headquarters of the British in the Andamans: wander the moss-covered ruins of the church, bakery and chief commissioner's house, and watch for the resident deer and peacocks. Next, cruise to North Bay Island, the islands' best-known spot for reef viewing close to Port Blair: take a glass-bottom boat ride over the coral gardens, or add optional snorkelling, sea walking or a short scuba session (payable locally).
