The currency in Jordan is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD). It is advisable to change the notes of higher value at restaurants while paying bills. There is no dearth of ATMs, except in a few small towns and villages. VISA and MasterCard are the most widely accepted ones.
When it comes to credit cards, a majority of business spots in Amman and Aqaba accept major credit cards. Local charges are not applied on credit card cash advances but the daily withdrawal limit is JD500.

Jordanian cuisine is quite refined and caters to taste buds of various gastronomes. Tourists can dig on treats like Mansaf (lamb cooked in a sauce of fermented dried yogurt and served with rice or bulgur) Falafel, Moutabel, (roasted eggplant combined with yoghurt, tahini, garlic, and lemon juice), Fattet hummus (combination of bread, soaked in broth, mixed with hummus, tahini, and lemon juice), and Tabbouleh (mixture of minced parsley, tomatoes, garlic, bulgar wheat, lemon juice, salt, and olive oil). Other delicacies include Shish Kebabs, Shawarma, and Musakhan (slices of bread, chicken, heaps of onions, fragrant spices, and olive oil).

Although Jordan is a Muslim country, it is not conservative. However, vacationers should dress up modestly to show respect to the country’s culture. For instance, women should avoid wearing shorts while visiting Amman’s City Centre. Summers are warm but evenings are cold all through the year. Winters can be extremely cold, so adequate woolens should be carried. Those planning to spend a night in the desert, warm clothes should be packed, even in summers.

Aqaba is basically a warm destination, which experiences winter temperature as low as 20°C. During summers, it remains hot but sea breezes ease the brunt of heat.

Of course, it is safe to visit Jordan. Tourists come here all the time to take a look at the beautiful landscape, and the historical heritage.
