Day-wise Itinerary: 6 Nights 7 Days

Day 1: Srinagar | Arrival, Dal Lake Check-in and Sunset Shikara

Our representative meets you at Srinagar airport, and your private cab drives you to your 5-star hotel above Dal Lake. Check in and keep the afternoon slow. Srinagar sits at about 1,585 metres, so an easy first afternoon helps. Around 4 pm, get ready for the shikara ride on Dal Lake. The hour takes you past the floating vegetable gardens and the carved houseboats, and the light turns orange over the Zabarwan hills as you return. Explore the nearby markets on the Boulevard for handicrafts and other products, then come back for dinner. Overnight stay at your 5-star hotel in Srinagar. Day 2: Srinagar to Pahalgam via Pampore, Awantipora Ruins and Mattan

After breakfast, check out and drive about 95 km to Pahalgam, roughly 3 hours on the road. The road passes the saffron fields of Pampore, which flower in purple from late October to early November. On the way you stop at the Awantipora ruins, two 9th-century stone temples built by King Avantivarman, and at the Mattan temple complex. Once you arrive in Pahalgam, check in at Welcomhotel Pine N Peak on Aru Road, where the rooms look out over pine forest. Go for a nature walk along the Lidder River before dinner. Day 3: Pahalgam | Betaab Valley, Aru and Chandanwari

Today is for the valleys around Pahalgam. Local rules do not allow Srinagar cabs into the valleys around town, so after breakfast you hire a Pahalgam union taxi at the fixed rate card. Betaab Valley is about 15 km away and gets its name from the 1983 film shot there. Aru Valley, about 12 km up the Lidder, is a quiet meadow village, and Chandanwari, about 16 km away, is where the Amarnath Yatra trail begins and where snow lingers into early summer. Baisaran meadow is reached only by pony and has been closed to visitors at times, so ask your agent whether it is open on your dates. Rafting on the Lidder is an optional extra at your own cost. Back at the hotel, dinner is included.

Day 4: Pahalgam to Gulmarg | The Khyber and an Afternoon on the Gondola

After breakfast, check out and drive to Gulmarg. The drive is about 140 to 150 km through Srinagar and takes 4 to 5 hours. Gulmarg, at about 2,650 metres, is famous for its golf course and, from December to March, for skiing on Apharwat. Check in at The Khyber Himalayan Resort and Spa, a short walk from the Gondola base. You arrive in the early to mid afternoon, so if you reach by about 2 pm, take the cable car to Kongdori (Phase 1) at your own expense the same day. Phase 2 climbs on to Apharwat at about 3,950 metres, closes in strong wind and sells out first, so book both on the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation portal as soon as your dates are fixed. A Phase 2 ticket needs a Phase 1 ticket first. Current rates are in our Gulmarg Gondola fares and timings guide. In winter the last stretch from Tangmarg needs a chained vehicle, paid locally. End the day at The Khyber Spa by L'Occitane or by the heated indoor pool. Overnight stay at The Khyber in Gulmarg.

You reach Gulmarg in the early afternoon. Gondola boarding closes by mid-afternoon (Phase 2 first), and tickets are issued for a fixed date and time slot. For the calmest ride, book your slot for the first cabins on Day 5 morning instead, before you drive back to Srinagar.

Day 5: Gulmarg to Srinagar | Mughal Gardens and the Old City

Have your last breakfast in Gulmarg, ideally with the meadow still empty, then check out and drive about 50 km back to Srinagar. Check in again at your 5-star hotel and set out on local sightseeing. Walk through the Mughal Gardens of Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi, laid out in terraces down to Dal Lake. Stop at Hazratbal Mosque, with its white marble dome on the lake's north shore. The old city, with Jamia Masjid and its 378 wooden pillars, Dastgeer Sahib Shrine and Pathar Masjid, is a tight fit after the drive from Gulmarg, so take it this evening only if time allows, or on the morning of Day 7 before an afternoon flight. Finish with a slow drive along the Boulevard to watch the lights come on across the water. Rest and sleep at your hotel.

Day 6: Sonamarg Day Trip | Thajiwas Glacier and the Sindh River

This day takes you to Sonamarg, the Meadow of Gold. Have breakfast and take the drive of about 80 km, 2.5 to 3 hours, following the Sindh River upstream. Since the Z-Morh tunnel opened in January 2025, the road stays open through most of winter, though heavy snow can still close it for a day. Your cab stops at Sonamarg town. From there, hire a pony or walk to the Thajiwas Glacier at your own expense (local union cabs, where they run, cover only part of the way), where snow lies year round. Take tea at a riverside dhaba before you head back. At night, return to your hotel in Srinagar for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Srinagar | Breakfast and Departure

On the last day of your Kashmir 5 star package, enjoy a slow breakfast with the lake view. If your flight is in the afternoon, spend an hour at the Government Central Market or Polo View for pashmina shawls, saffron and dry fruits. Then check out with your luggage and transfer to the airport in your private cab. Keep about 2 hours for the airport, as Srinagar has security checks at the entry gate and again inside.
