 What a Kullu Manali trip from Delhi costs

The land part of this trip, three hotel nights plus the overnight coach, breakfast and dinner, AC Volvo transfers and the sightseeing, starts at Rs 16,999 per person on twin sharing. Aggregator sites often flash headline fares of Rs 5,999 to 6,275, but those are usually room-only or exclude transfers and meals. What moves the real number is simple. Peak snow season around December and January and the school holidays cost more than the shoulder months. A private cab in place of shared transfers, an upgraded hotel, or an extra night in Manali all add to it.  Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Delhi to Manali by overnight Volvo

Reach the Volvo boarding point in Delhi by about 5 pm and board the AC Volvo coach for the overnight run to Manali, roughly 530 km and 10 to 14 hours through the foothills. You sleep on the way, so you save a full day of travel and arrive fresh the next morning. There is no sightseeing today, it is a transit evening. Arrival transfers in Manali are included.

 Day 2: Arrival and half-day Manali sightseeing

You reach Manali in the morning and transfer to the hotel to check in and rest, with the afternoon kept for a half-day city tour. You visit the cedar-wood Hadimba Devi Temple, built in 1553 and set in a quiet forest clearing, then Vashisht village about 3 km from town, where an old stone temple sits beside natural hot water springs that stay warm even in cold weather. There is time on Mall Road and at Manali Market before you return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Breakfast and dinner are included.

 Day 3: Rohtang Pass or Solang Valley for snow

After a buffet breakfast you head up for the big snow day, either Rohtang Pass or Solang Valley depending on the season and permits. Rohtang, about 51 km from Manali at 3,978 m, is capped at roughly 1,200 vehicles a day, stays shut on Tuesdays for maintenance, and needs an online permit, so when it is closed or full the tour runs to Solang Valley, about 14 km from town, instead. When the higher pass is out, many drivers now use the Atal Tunnel, the 9.02 km tunnel opened in October 2020, to reach Sissu on the Lahaul side for reliable snow with no permit needed. Either way you get snow points and optional activities like a snow scooter, a short ropeway or horse riding. Back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. The Rohtang permit is not included in the price.

 Day 4: Full-day tour to Naggar and Kullu

After breakfast you drive out to Naggar, the old capital of the Kullu valley about 21 km from Manali and a calmer, greener contrast to the town. You visit the stone-and-wood Naggar Castle with its valley views, the old Shiva temple at Jagatsukh, a shawl factory where you can watch weaving and shop for local wool, and the Gayatri Mata temple. The day continues down towards Kullu on the Beas, known for its shawls and its riverside setting, before you return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and your last night. Breakfast and dinner are included.

 Day 5: Departure from Manali to Delhi

After breakfast you check out and transfer to the Volvo station for the overnight coach back to Delhi, arriving the following morning. Breakfast is included before you leave.  Things to do in Kullu and Manali

 How to reach Manali from Delhi

Manali is about 530 km from Delhi, and there is no direct rail line to the town, so the overnight coach is the simplest way up and is what this package uses.

• By Volvo coach: the AC Volvo used on this package leaves Delhi in the evening and reaches Manali by morning, roughly 10 to 14 hours. It is the cheapest and easiest option, and you sleep through the drive.

• By train and road: take a train to Chandigarh or Kalka, then continue by road to Manali (about 8 to 9 hours). This suits travellers who prefer rail for the plains leg. Ask your agent to price it as a custom plan.

• By flight or self-drive: for a faster start, fly Delhi to Kullu (Bhuntar), the closest airport at about 50 km from Manali, though flights are limited and weather dependent, or drive your own car up via Chandigarh and Mandi.

For snow on the ground, come between October and February, with December and January the coldest and most reliable for fresh snow at Solang and at Rohtang when it is open. March to June is pleasant and green, good for sightseeing, with Rohtang usually opening around May. July to September brings the monsoon, when hill roads can see landslides, so build in buffer time if you travel then.
