What makes this Chandigarh package different

Most Chandigarh-to-Manali trips stop at the town circuit and Solang. This one adds the day that matters now. On day three you drive through the Atal Tunnel, the 9.02 km tunnel under the Rohtang range that opened in October 2020, and come out at Sissu in the Lahaul valley for a waterfall, the lake and a Lahauli lunch. That single detour skips the Rohtang permit queue and shows you a greener, higher landscape than a standard Manali package. Day four swaps the crowds for Naggar Castle and the Roerich estate, with Jogini Falls or a Manikaran add-on on request.

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Chandigarh to Manali

Your private cab picks you up in Chandigarh in the morning and heads north on the Kiratpur to Manali Expressway, running beside the Beas for the last stretch past Bilaspur and Mandi. The drive covers roughly 270 km in about 8 to 9 hours with tea and lunch stops. You reach Manali by evening and check in. If there is daylight left, walk down to Mall Road for a plate of siddu and a hot coffee. Overnight in Manali.

Day 2: Manali local sightseeing

After breakfast you cover the classic Manali circuit. Start at the Hadimba Devi Temple, a cedar-wood shrine from 1553 set in a deodar forest above the town, then the Vashisht village hot springs and stone temple a few minutes further up. Add the Tibetan monastery and Van Vihar by the river, and spend the late afternoon on Mall Road and the Manu Market for woollens and caps. Overnight in Manali.

Day 3: Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel and Sissu

This is the day the route earns its keep. Drive up to Solang Valley for the ropeway and, in season, paragliding and zorbing, then continue through the Atal Tunnel and out to Sissu in Lahaul. Sissu gives you a roadside waterfall, a calm lake and Lahauli food, all without a Rohtang permit. It is the section that makes this more than a plain sightseeing trip. Return to Manali by evening. Day 4: Naggar Castle and the Kullu valley

Head south along the left bank of the Beas to Naggar Castle, the stone-and-timber palace of the Kullu kings that now holds a gallery, with the Nicholas Roerich estate close by. Trekkers can swap in the short climb to Jogini Falls above Vashisht instead. Prefer Manikaran? Day 5: Manali to Chandigarh

Getting to Manali from Chandigarh

Chandigarh is the most common launch point for Manali because the road is direct: about 270 km on the Kiratpur to Manali Expressway, 8 to 9 hours by car. HRTC and private Volvo buses run the same route overnight, and the nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar (Kullu), about 50 km short of town.
