    Overview

Manali sits at about 2,050 m in Himachal Pradesh, part quiet hill town and part adventure base, which is why it stays the most-booked mountain trip out of Gujarat. For a Surat family the hard part was never Manali itself. It was the distance. Surat to Manali is close to 1,700 km, and there is no train or flight that runs the whole way. This package solves that by splitting the journey cleanly: you cover the Surat to Delhi leg the fast way you prefer, and the tour takes over from Delhi with a shared AC Volvo up to Manali and back.

Across four nights you do the full classic circuit. The first evening in Manali is a half-day town tour of the Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht and its hot water springs, Van Vihar and the Tibetan Monastery. A second day climbs to Solang Valley and, weather permitting, up to Rohtang Pass and the Atal Tunnel for the snow. A third day runs across Kullu and Naggar, taking in Naggar Castle and the Roerich art gallery. It is a decision-ready, fixed-price plan rather than a bare 'from Rs 10,000' teaser that leaves you to assemble the trip yourself.

Whether you are a Gujarat couple after a quiet few days in the hills or a family of four travelling together for five days, the same fixed plan works. Only the room, the pace and the add-ons change, and the local team sets those to suit whoever is on the trip.

How to Reach Manali From Surat

There is no direct flight or train from Surat to Manali. Manali has no airport or railway station of its own, and the nearest airport, Kullu-Manali at Bhuntar (KUU) about 50 km away, takes no flights from Surat. So every Surat trip runs in two legs: get yourself to Delhi, then let the package Volvo carry you the rest of the way. Surat to Manali is roughly 1,700 km by road. Here is how the three ways compare.

    ModeTimeRouteNotes
By flight (fastest)Surat to Delhi about 2 hr in the air, then the overnight VolvoSurat (STV) to Delhi (DEL), then Delhi to Manali by road, about 540 kmQuickest way to the Delhi boarding point; the Surat-Delhi flight is your own booking
By train (budget)Surat to Delhi about 18 to 20 hr, then the overnight VolvoSurat to New Delhi / Nizamuddin on the western line, then Delhi to ManaliCheapest way north; book a Delhi arrival with time to catch the evening Volvo
By road (full drive)Two days of driving over roughly 1,700 kmSurat north through Rajasthan and Delhi, then Chandigarh, Mandi and Kullu to ManaliOnly for committed road-trippers; most travellers fly or train to Delhi and take the Volvo

The tour picks up at the AC Volvo boarding point in Delhi, so aim to reach Delhi by late afternoon on day one. The coach leaves around 5:30 PM for the overnight run and drops you in Manali by about 7:00 AM the next morning, so you lose no daylight to the road.

If you want to fly the whole way, connect through Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar and add a private transfer to Manali. For the full breakdown of routes and stops on the northern leg, see the Manali travel guide.

Why This Package Is Value at Rs 24,479

Aggregator listings anchor low on purpose. You will see 'from Rs 10,625' or 'from Rs 11,397' for a Manali trip from Surat, and it reads cheaper until you notice what those numbers leave out: the Surat to Delhi leg, meals, transfers, or a real hotel. Rs 24,479 is the honest all-in figure for everything from Delhi onward. This is where the money actually goes.

    • Coach both ways: the shared AC Volvo Delhi to Manali and back is booked with the package, no chasing coach seats in peak season

    • Hotel and meals: four nights in a handpicked Manali hotel on twin sharing, with breakfast every morning and dinner on two nights

    • All sightseeing: the town tour, the Solang or Rohtang snow day and the full Kullu-Naggar day are all covered by road

    • Fixed and transparent: one number, quoted up front, with local Himachal agents handling the ground arrangements

Your 5-Day Manali Itinerary From Surat

Day 1: Reach Delhi and board the overnight Volvo to Manali

Make your way from Surat to Delhi by flight or train, and reach the AC Volvo boarding point in Delhi by late afternoon. The coach pulls out around 5:30 PM for the overnight run up to Manali, roughly 540 km through Chandigarh, Mandi and the Kullu valley. The reclining Volvo seats are built for the night drive, so settle in and let the hills come to you. Overnight on the bus.

Day 2: Arrive Manali and a half-day town tour

The Volvo rolls into Manali around 7:00 AM. After check-in and a rest, head out in the afternoon for the classic town circuit: the cedar-shrouded Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht village with its old temple and natural hot water springs, Van Vihar by the Beas and the Tibetan Monastery with its prayer wheels. Close the evening with a walk and some shopping along Mall Road and the IBEX Market. Overnight in Manali.

Day 3: Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel and Rohtang Pass

After breakfast, gear up for the big snow day. Drive up to Solang Valley, the adventure meadow about 14 km from town, for paragliding and zorbing in the warm months or ski and snow-play in winter. From there the road climbs toward the snow line. The 9.02 km Atal Tunnel, opened in 2020, now cuts under the mountain to Sissu on the Lahaul side and stays reachable when the higher pass is shut. Rohtang Pass itself sits at about 3,980 m and, weather permitting, is where you get the wide sheets of snow, with optional skiing and snow-scooter rides at your own cost. Rohtang is regulated, so it needs a permit and access depends on the season and the day's weather. Back to the hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 4: Naggar Castle, the Roerich gallery and old temples

Breakfast, then drive south to Naggar, the old capital of the Kullu kings, about 23 km from Manali. The stone-and-timber Naggar Castle looks straight across the Beas valley and houses the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery. From there, stop at a Kullu shawl factory to watch the weaving and shop, then the old temples around Naggar, the Gayatri Devi Temple and the Gauri Shankar Mandir, before the Jagatsukh Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Return to Manali for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure and the Volvo back to Delhi

Enjoy a last breakfast and check out. Transfer to the AC Volvo boarding point for the return journey to Delhi, where you connect to your onward flight or train home to Surat. Time your Surat leg for that evening or the next morning so the last day is not a rush.

    Where you stay

Four nights in a handpicked Manali hotel on twin sharing, with breakfast each morning and dinner included on two of the nights. The exact property is shared on your voucher and can be upgraded on request.

Best Time to Visit Manali From Surat

Manali is a year-round trip, but what you get changes sharply by season. This is the short version for a Surat traveller planning the northern leg.

    MonthsRough tempWhat to expect
March to June10 to 25 CPleasant days, open roads, all sightseeing running. The easiest window to plan the Surat leg.
July to SeptemberCool, wetMonsoon. Green and cheaper, but landslides can affect Rohtang and hill roads.
October to November5 to 20 CClear post-monsoon skies, thinner crowds, good value on hotels.
December to February-2 to 10 CSnow around Solang and the Atal Tunnel and Sissu. Rohtang is usually shut, so confirm.

If snow is the whole point of the trip, come between December and February and plan around the Atal Tunnel and Sissu, which stay reachable when Rohtang closes. For open roads and hassle-free sightseeing, March to June is the safest window, and it is also when flights and trains out of Surat are easiest to book ahead.

What the Rs 24,479 Covers From Surat

The package price is everything from Delhi onward. The one thing you add is your own Surat to Delhi ticket, which is why the number looks higher than a bus-teaser listing but ends up costing less to actually travel. Here is the split.

Top Places and Things to Do in Manali

    Solang Valley

The adventure hub, about 14 km from Manali. Paragliding and zorbing in the warm months, ski and snow-play in winter. It is the first stop on the snow day and the busiest for a reason.

    Atal Tunnel and Sissu

The 9.02 km Atal Tunnel drops you into the Lahaul valley in minutes. Sissu, just beyond it, has a waterfall and open snow fields in winter and stays reachable when Rohtang is closed, which makes it the reliable snow option on this trip.

    Rohtang Pass

At about 3,980 m, the classic high-pass snow stop, open seasonally and weather-dependent, with a daily vehicle cap and a permit. When it is open, it is the postcard view of the trip.

    Hadimba Devi Temple and Vashisht

The 16th-century Hadimba temple sits in a cedar grove a short walk from Mall Road. Vashisht, across the Beas, is known for its natural hot water springs and an old stone temple, a good slow morning.

    Kullu and Naggar

Kullu for the shawl weavers and the Beas riverbank, Naggar for the old castle and its valley view. Both are covered on the fourth day.

      FAQs About Himachal Tour Packages

How do I reach Manali from Surat?

There is no direct flight or train from Surat to Manali, so the trip runs in two legs. First reach Delhi from Surat by air (about 2 hours) or by train (about 18 to 20 hours). From Delhi, the package's shared overnight AC Volvo covers the roughly 540 km up to Manali. You only book the Surat to Delhi leg; everything from Delhi onward is handled.

What is the Surat to Manali distance?

Surat to Manali is roughly 1,700 km by road, which is why almost nobody drives the whole way. Most travellers fly or take the train to Delhi, then join the AC Volvo for the last stretch. The Delhi to Manali leg on its own is about 540 km and takes 13 to 14 hours overnight.

How much does a Manali tour package from Surat cost?

This 5-day, 4-night package starts at Rs 24,479 per person on twin sharing, down from Rs 26,608. That covers the shared AC Volvo from Delhi both ways, four nights of hotel, breakfast daily and dinner on two nights, all transfers and sightseeing, and taxes. Your Surat to Delhi ticket, lunch, the Rohtang permit and personal expenses are extra.

What is the best time to visit Manali from Surat?

March to June gives you pleasant weather and every road and viewpoint open, and it is the easiest window to book the Surat leg ahead. December to February is the snow season around Solang and the Atal Tunnel. Monsoon, July to September, is green and cheaper but hill roads and Rohtang can be affected by rain and landslides.

Flight or train from Surat, which is better?

Flying to Delhi saves you the most time, about 2 hours in the air against 18 to 20 hours by train, and it makes the day-one Volvo connection comfortable. The train is the budget choice and works well if you leave Surat with enough buffer to catch the evening coach. Either way, the Manali portion of the trip is the same.

Hotel provided at shimla is barowalia resort, which is a pathetic hotel. initially was promised to give Pahuna resort, but later changed. Itenary provided in the list cannot be completed due to not so super planning, only 60% places can be covered.. Driver is a good person and he is a good gentle
man. after so much of complaints got a better hotel in Manali Varsha Inn a very good hotel thanks to Mrs. Sharma, but the itenary in manali should be planned for 2 days, 1 day is not sufficient, this has to be told to the customer, if customer is having budget problems cover only important places. Because of this creating unnecessary rift between customer and driver, luckily not happened in my case. Neelam is very helpful in co-ordinating things, but as an agency lot to improve.

I had booked Shimla - Manaali six days tour with North India Tours & Travels. From the starting there were trouble with agency. I was asked to contact Mr. Neeraj Negi for driver details. I had followed him four times over phone but he didn't provide the proper details. I got three drivers number an
d had to call all of them to know who will pick me up from Chandigarh. Once driver was fixed, he asked me to leave from Chandigarh early (though I didn't want it) in the morning because he was in Chandigarh that evening and he wanted to return early. when I called Neeraj Negi to know if Hotel room will be available if I reach early, he was blunt and said will you check out early if you are checking in early. Taxi and hotel coordination was his job but I was doing it and he was playing boss role. while travelling to Shimla, taxi driver (Prakash) informed me that he is not from North India tour travel. Taxi driver on day one left without informing. raised the issue on Travel triangle whatsapp group but no help was offer either by travel triangle or Neeraj Negi. During the travel, I had four different drivers (Prakash, Sanjay, Ajay, Raju) and on each day I had to coordinate with these drivers. No professionalism at all. Although, I was informed that I will have single driver through out the tour. while returning from Manaali around 1 PM during the day we were passing through planes (Sundar Nagar, Bilaspur etc) and temperature was 37 deg C and dust outside. requested driver to switch on the AC but he hadn't. this is despite the fact that we were descending from hills or travelling in plane areas. This driver (Ajay) had to pick client from Chandigarh therefore he had asked us to start early from Manaali, which I agreed to. I had to skip the breakfast because of him but when we requested him to switch on the AC, he straight forward denied it. No support from North India tour travel . Only good thing in this trip was hotel in Manaali (Himalayan heights), which is newly built and well maintained. view from this hotel is quite good and it has apple orchard within it's boundary.

Hotel in Manali (Lotus Inn River View) is awesum but hotel in Shimla is not at all good. Overall services are good by Walk Holiday. Driver is unprofessional he didn't know the places where he have to make us visit. Memories are good but we don't get to visit much more places as it is mentioned in t

Cravename's 9 days trip to Himachal

Hotels in Dalhousie was sub standard and sinking not at all worth. Rest travel agent planned longer trip rather than shorter and didn't inform in advance regarding the road work as well due to which there was traffic jam

Thanks to travel triangle as it was an awesome and excellent experience with Mysterious Himanchal. Ms. Pooja Prashar from Mysterious Himanchal assist me from very first day to till end of my package with the same passion. She has done remarkable job to make my package memorable. Special thanks to
Mysterious Himanchal for providing me luxurious package in the great cost, everything offered by Mysterious Himanchal is best in that budget. Ms. Pooja Prashar is best example for any service class industry, she arranged and planned everything so ideally that had made my family so comfortable and made my trip outstanding, She was there through out the trip to provide suggestion even for those services which were not included in the package, I was in this much comfort during my holiday that i had not put a single query or complain on wassup group form by Travel Triangle. Ms. Pooja Prashar not only responded well to my queries but also ensured about comfortable stay at every hotel location. She used to take daily follow-up that made our stay outstanding. Hospitality at every place was at its best. At nowhere i found that any of the service can be better than what offered to me. It was great experience to stay at hotel Byke Nature Villa, outstanding hotel at excellent location. Hotel Manager and staff was very helpful and polite. Our cab Driver Mr. Ashok Thakur was also helpful and good in nature. His punctuality was the best part. Once again a big thanks to Travel Traingle team, Mysterious Himanchal team, Ms. Somya from Travel Traingle (although things were that much perfect that nothing had been escalated to her) and Ms. POOJA PRASHAR.
