Shimla Tour Package From Delhi (2N/3D): Overview
A 2 nights 3 days Shimla tour package from Delhi is the trip most people from the capital actually take: three days is enough to walk the Mall Road, ride up to Kufri, and be back at your desk on Monday. This package covers the classic Shimla circuit at a steady pace, starting from Rs 15,000 per person on twin sharing, with a 3-star stay, breakfast and every transfer already built in. You leave Delhi, cover roughly 350 km up to the hills, and spend two nights in Shimla rather than losing a day each way. Everything here is customisable, so you can swap a Kufri morning for Chail or add the Kalka-Shimla toy train if you have the time.

Why This 2N/3D From-Delhi Itinerary Works
The 2 nights 3 days format is the shortest plan that still gives you a real day in Shimla plus a full Kufri excursion, without the rushed feel of a one-night weekend run. Day 1 is the drive up and check-in, so the climb from the plains does not eat into sightseeing. Day 2 is entirely on foot around the Ridge, Mall Road and Jakhu. Day 3 heads to Kufri for the views before the drive back to Delhi. If you want more of Himachal on the same trip, pair it with a longer plan from the full Delhi to Shimla packages range, or browse every option on the Shimla tour packages page.
Day-by-Day Itinerary (2 Nights / 3 Days)
Day 1: Delhi to Shimla
You leave Delhi in the morning and drive up to Shimla, roughly a 7 to 9 hour road journey depending on traffic past Chandigarh. The last stretch after Solan turns green and the temperature drops noticeably as you climb. On arrival you check in to your 3-star hotel, settle in, and the evening is yours. Most travellers walk the upper Mall Road, grab a coffee near the Ridge, and turn in early after the long drive up. Dinner is on your own so you can eat wherever the evening takes you. Overnight in Shimla.
Day 2: Shimla Sightseeing, Jakhu, the Ridge and Mall Road
After breakfast the full day goes to Shimla town. You start at the Jakhu Temple, set on the city's highest hill, where the tall Hanuman statue stands above the deodar trees (keep snacks hidden from the resident monkeys). From there the day moves through the colonial core: the Ridge with its open views, the neo-Gothic Christ Church, Scandal Point, and the shops and cafes along the Mall Road. It is an easy, walkable day with plenty of stops for photos and food. You return to the hotel for the night. Overnight in Shimla.
Day 3: Kufri Excursion and Drive Back to Delhi
The last morning heads out to Kufri, about 16 km from town, known for its yak and pony rides and the Himalayan Nature Park. On a clear day the ridge at Kufri gives a wide view of the snow line. You can also stop at Green Valley on the way, one of the most photographed bends on the Kufri road. After lunch you begin the drive back to Delhi, arriving late the same evening. Breakfast is included, and this is a departure day, so keep the Kufri plan light if you have a long drive ahead.
How to Reach Shimla From Delhi
Shimla sits about 350 km from Delhi, and most people cover it by road. An overnight or early-morning Volvo coach from Kashmiri Gate ISBT takes roughly 8 to 10 hours to Shimla. A private cab on the same route runs about 7 to 9 hours and lets you stop at Pinjore or Solan on the way. There is no direct broad-gauge train to Shimla itself: the classic option is the train to Kalka, then the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla toy train, a UNESCO World Heritage line, for the final scenic climb. This package includes your road transfers from Delhi. If you want to plan the journey yourself, our guide to Delhi to Shimla trains and the toy train has the current timings and routes.
Best Time to Visit Shimla
March to June is the most popular window, with pleasant days around 15 to 30 degrees and cool evenings, ideal for the Mall Road and Kufri. Late December to February brings snow to Kufri and the higher points, which is the draw for a winter trip, though the drive up can slow after heavy snowfall. July to September is the monsoon: greener and cheaper, but with the risk of landslips on the ghat road. For a 2N/3D plan, aim for a weekend just outside peak dates to avoid the Mall Road crowds. For a month-by-month breakdown, see the Shimla travel guide.
