Things to do in Jodhpur

Things to do in Jodhpur are plenty, however, aimless visits are pointless visits. Be sure to prepare an itinerary before you set out for a holiday. It will make your visit much more worthwhile and you will feel like you have seen the place inside out. Here are some of the top things to do in Jodhpur to have a one-of-its-kind experience:

Plan your own day and start out early. You would not want to miss out on the things that this charming city has to offer. Sip a cup of chai with the locals to get a taste of their lives. Then you can take a walk through the blue city. A desert safari may sound cliche, but it is one of the most thrilling things that one can do in Jodhpur. Afterwards, spending a night in a tent in the desert is a tranquilizing experience. A romantic dinner amidst the desert can also be arranged for those looking for a great night with their loved one.

Exploring the city is one of the best things to do in Jodhpur. The elegant Mehrangarh fort calls out to tourists who wish to get some awesome royal-style pictures. Be sure to visit the roof and see the whole city with your own eyes.

Ziplining and paragliding are some adventure activities in Jodhpur that you can indulge in. They are easily affordable and will leave you satisfied. you can also try rock climbing for an ultimate adrenaline rush.

Old Jodhpur is where most of the traditional trade work occurs. You can observe spice sellers, grocery and textile merchants, jewellery traders and many others in full action, trying to sell their products in order to make a living.

As far as the nightlife in Jodhpur is concerned, it does not <readmore>cater much to the party freaks, but surely does not disappoint. ‘On the Rocks’ is a restaurant cum club where you can go and grab a few drinks. Geoffrey’s is another traditional English island bar, open from 12 PM to 12 AM, and a great place to get amazing deals on cocktails.

Jodhpur’s is not as bustling as it may be in metropolitans and other cities, but nowhere else will you enjoy sitting by one of the lakes and watching the sunset as much as you will here.

Vikasyadav's 5 days trip to Jodhpur

Overall experience was great however the hotel at Jaisalmer "The Elite castle" was not upto mark. Doors were not ok additionally bed was broken and washroom was not clean. I have already requested to give me deluxe hotel but the hotel was not even equal to 2 star.

Sreemai's 6 days trip to Jodhpur

"I had a wonderful experience with Back to Holidays. We got good hotel rooms, and Preeti helped us with everything. She is very kind and kept checking on us to ensure we were comfortable. However, the driver was on phone calls almost the entire trip, all 7 days, which made us feel afraid." Had good time in all the places we visited

Narendra's 7 days trip to Jodhpur

Plus points: Planning done and support provided by Mohit was really good. Cab driver Ramkrishna ji was very kind and good person. He is very pention and cleaver driver, knows every point and places. Also he suggested some good places where we enjoyed local tasty food. Things need to improve - Hotels were not upto the mark except Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.Service and room conditions are not so good. Worst hotel was at Mount abu. Next rank -The Balam in Udaipur. As we paid for 3 star hotels but the services and facilities were like 1 star hotel for these 2 places.

Amrit's 5 days trip to Jodhpur

The overall trip was good apart from some bad experiences. The cab driver was really good and always punctual and took care of comfort of the passengers. Hotels were good as well except one hotel in jaisalmer where i had to change 3 rooms for multiple reason. We found a rat in first room, in 2nd room washroom there were cochroaches and in 3rd room the bedsheets and pillow were dirty as well the previous garbage bag was not cleared. It really pissed of my mind. 2nd things i wanted to talk about that the travel company which has provided cab asked for 500 rs extra just for a site visit which was not under the plan but comes on the way from jodhpur to jaipur. It was hardly a 2km diversion from the main road. And aprt from that i feel the plan could have been done little better. Because most of time went on cab travelling from 1 city to other. I felt either 1city could have been removed or there should have been 1more day added. I covered udaypur, jaisalmer, jodhpur and jaipur in 7days and 6nights. I will suggest to add one more day as 7day is not enough and you need to rush to cover places which is not a good experience. Regarding shopping do your own research because driver might suggest some places which actually might be constlier and first time travellers can easily fall under this.

FAQ's of Jodhpur

Read on to find out why our customers love us!

A lot of tourists like to stay in one of the numerous heritage hotels in Jodhpur, which give an authentic feel of staying in an old haveli. For those who want to stay in luxury, Jodhpur in fact has some of the best hotels in the country. Notably, the Umaid Bhavan Palace which was originally used by the Royal family as their palace is now a heritage hotel, managed by the Taj group - a night's stay here would cost around 5000 per night.

Some of the major places one should visit in the city are Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Mahamandir, Clock Tower, Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Mandore Gardens and Balsamand Lake and Garden.

Unlike other cities of Rajasthan, Jodhpur doesn't have many activities to do than sightseeings and desert safari. A couple or three days should be enough for a visit to this city.

Jodhpur is a pretty safe place to be in but don't stay out till too late at night and don't get too friendly with the locals either. Keep your distance and be alert at all times and appear confident and don't look afraid or lost, irrespective of whom you meet. If you keep your wits about you, you should be fine in most cases.

Jodhpur has its famous Mirchi Vada, Mawa Kachori and Pyaaz Kachori. Almost as popular and a must try item is Makhaniya Lassi.

Many people consider Jodhpur as the cultural capital of Rajasthan. Due to its cultural ambiance and plethora of historical destinations, it is definitely a must-visit place in Jodhpur.
