All you need to book a flight, and you are all set to cover the Delhi to Gangtok distance of about 1238 km in around 2 hours. Though, you may also reach Gangtok via train, bus, or car, but the journey can be quite tiresome and time consuming.

By Flight: The capital city of India is served by Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) which has many flight companies operating for the route from Delhi to Bagdogra Airport (IXB)- the nearest airport to Gangtok. The distance from Delhi to Gangtok by air is 1238 Km which takes only 2 hours 5 minutes at maximum. It is noteworthy that flights ply from Delhi to Bagdogra, which is the nearest airport to Gangtok. After comfortably covering the distance from Delhi to Gangtok by flight, you can board a bus or taxi to Gangtok. The flight services fly nonstop between the air terminals and prominent flights services are Indigo, Vistara, JetKonnect, Air Asia and Spicejet. Overall, taking a flight is the quickest way to travel to Sikkim from Delhi.

By Train: There are several trains running between New Delhi Railway Station to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station which is just 120 Km to Gangtok. You can choose any of the trains, Dbrt Rajdhani or Mahananda Express, to reach New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. From there onward, you can book a private taxi or take intrastate buses to reach Gangtok. One of the Delhi to Sikkim trains is Rajdhani that assures a smooth journey. Travelling from Delhi to Bagdogra by train takes about 25 hours. And travellers need to finish the rest of the 3-hour journey from Bagdogra to Gangtok by road.

By Bus: The road connectivity from the distance between Delhi and Gangtok is proper. Delhi to Gangtok distance by road is 1571 km (approx.) that can be covered in almost 40 hours. You can take your car or can hire private taxis to take you to Gangtok. But, if you want a safe and comfortable journey then you can rely upon the State-run buses from Delhi to Gangtok.

Nikhil helped organize a 7 N / 8 D trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.. Was really well planned. The hotels were comfortable and food arrangements extremely good. Driver who took us along was an excellent guide. Good part was we were able to tweak the itinerary to couple of more areas whilst at Gangtok.
