Gangtok is at a distance of one hundred and twenty-four kilometers from here. The answer to the question of how to go to Gangtok is pretty simple. Flights are the easiest and the fastest way to get there. The good thing is that Bagdogra Airport is well connected with other major cities of the country. Also, you can take helicopter services from Bagdogra to Gangtok which are operated by Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation. This will take only twenty more minutes for you to reach. Also, you can plan to take the road trip which will get you many fascinating views in the way. It will only take approximately two hours for you to reach Bagdogra airport from Delhi. Afterwards, take the bus or hire a taxi as well for a more convenient journey.

      Nikhil helped organize a 7 N / 8 D trip to Darjeeling and Sikkim.. Was really well planned. The hotels were comfortable and food arrangements extremely good. Driver who took us along was an excellent guide. Good part was we were able to tweak the itinerary to couple of more areas whilst at Gangtok.

      What should I eat in Gangtok?

      One cannot miss Momos, Thukpa, Wonton, Gyathuk, Thenthuk and more, along with a Sikkim style meat patty called Shah-Phaley. Along with this you get to choose from a huge variety of authentic soups almost unique to the area. Chang is a locally made alcoholic beverage and is a must try while here. Authentic Tibetan and Indo-Chinese cuisines are also available in the restaurants and must also be tried.

      When can I witness snow in Gangtok?

      Snowfall can be witnessed in the winter months of January and February in Gangtok. Else you have to travel to the Zero Point where snow can be witnessed anytime throughout the year.

      Are there any treks in and around Gangtok?

      There are a number of treks one can go for but all the treks require a decent fitness level. Some of them are Dzongri, Versay, Tholung, Goecha La, Tosar Lake, Everest Singalila and Green Lake trek.
