Best Time To Visit South africa

Plan your trip during best season to experience the best of this stunning destination

What is the best time to visit South Africa?

The best time to visit South Africa is from April to October for wildlife viewing, July to November for whale watching and December to March for beach activities. South Africa is a lovely country dotted with wildlife parks and surrounded by beautiful beaches – a lover’s paradise, a family man’s destination and a wanderer’s food for soul. Needless to say South Africa travel has something to offer to every type of traveller, and that makes the country a year-round destination, suitable for a visit for any season.

South Africa during April-October (18° to 7°C)

Since South Africa is located in the southern hemisphere, May to October is the winter season in the country. South Africa weather during this time is pleasantly cool and dry and the perfect time for wildlife viewing.

South Africa is home to multiple national parks and forests which work dedicatedly towards protecting and preserving the great African flora and fauna. These national parks are best visited between May and October. For nature lovers, this is definitely the best month to visit South Africa. During this dry season, the activities of the wild animals like migration and hunting can be observed from up close. But the period from June to August (off season for game viewing) in between is better avoided, since there will be heavy winter rainfall during this period. Safaris restart again in September, when the famous afternoon showers do not interfere with it at all. If you are looking for a refreshing holiday, this is the best season to visit South Africa

The temperature of South Africa during this whole time stays around 20°-25°C. In remote regions near Bloemfontein and Upington, the temperature reaches in the early 30 degrees in the peak season.

South Africa during November-February (26 to 16°C)

November through February is the summer season here. The climate of South Africa during this time is perfect for a beach holiday at Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. November is good for whale watching at its best, and bird spotting in the northern regions. This time is comparatively less crowded than the winter months, although the holiday and New Year week will see a heavier footfall. For an energetic yet calm holiday, this is the best time to go to South Africa

Famous Festivals in South Africa

National Arts Festival

The National Arts Festivals is one of the most prominent art festivals in South Africa. Held in the city of Grahamstown, it is counted amongst the greatest gatherings of artists from all over the world. The art pieces displayed here are just stunning and makes one think about the different perspectives an individual can have. Such a gathering of brilliant art pieces is sure to invoke the fancy of many. Check out this festival during the months of June to July on your trip to South Africa. As this is considered the best time to visit South Africa for all art lovers, you can book a ticket in advance to be on time.

Knysna Oyster Festival

If one talks about a festival that people from almost all age groups can enjoy is the Knysna Oyster Festival. It is one of the best outdoor family and community events of South Africa. The main activities and highlights of the festival are Pick n Pay Cape Times Forest Marathon and the Pick n Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Cycle Tour. The event is held every year during the months of June and July in Knysna, South Africa. Plan your family vacation during this time to make the most of your holiday.

Cape Town Carnival

You will hardly find the mercury rising above 35° or going below 17°C which makes it ideal for a vacation during any time of the year.

Monsoon Season in South africa

Rainfall is scattered and unpredictable in South Africa. Cape Town and the Western Cape region experiences winter rainfall during June-August, while the rest of the country gets sudden thunderstorms from December to March. The Eastern Cape on the other hand can see rainfall any time during the year. It is better to be ready for the chances of a rainfall at any point.

    • Trip to Tamil Nadu

No testimonial to be given .. My last day AUgust 17th i had to spend whole 8 hrs at airport becasue the oversmart driver brought me to madhurai way to early from Rameshwaram without doing 3 site seeing places.... so on 17th august i only had a local temple to see and then nothing else to do before my flight. so i had to spend 8 hrs in airport. I requested the driver to take me around some local shops to do some shopping , he turned a dead ear. the entire trip was spoil by that last day. Madhurai was the home for the driver and that is why he hurried and brought us there. If i have to spend time arguing with driver on a vacation then how can i relax in vacation Honestly , the driver cant just do their way of sight seeing .. whatever was mentioned and promised in rameshwaram was not fully delivered. I am sooo unhappy cause i had checked with the customize.com lady and she suggested i book late evening flight so either plz improve the professionalism of drivers or else its not so much fun that i keep arguing with a driver who does not want to understand you

    • Trip to Mauritius

Booked Family trip (2 Adult+1 infant)Mauritius trip with Timeless Trips Private Limited thru travel Triangle, Which I will not recommend to anyone. Because I felt cheated at every single day compare to other travel company service. They handover our trip to SEASIDE Holidays Mauritius which having 1 star ratings and Be-aware tag line(Wow). 1. On very first day of arrival they showed their poor service. Local GSM sim card was included in my package but it was missing in welcome kit. So I contacted Sahil Rajput (Post sales guy) to sort it out this situation. he asked some time to resolve this and replied me as "its system miss. and he will check and update me". After waiting whole 2 days he never replied me until unless I asked him again. This time his answer was " I checked with reservation for this but due to system miss it can't be arranged. Also it was a complimentary service". I told him there was not a single word mentioned about Complimentary in my Itinerary. Finally I paid around 3000 rs for my India Vodafone sim for in case of emergency(Because I was traveling with infant). I asked refund but again they can't refund because it was complimentary service which I totally disagree because same tour operator gave sim card those booked same trip via MMT. This is showing there poor service. 2. One second day they took us to Île aux Cerfs As usual tour operator took us to island for water sports and gave us only 1.30 hr for water sports(consider a long queue because every single MRU visitor come here to do water sports) and 1.00 Hr to visit+ lunch(Lunch only took 1 Hr) which was very less. The island is Beauty of Mauritius and 1.00 hr is way less for enjoying the beauty. They dropped us to hotel at 4.30 pm only. Very short trip. It can be additional 1.30 hour easily but Not for Indian visitors. Because I had a chat with other country people in Hotel and all had very good experience of island. 3. Third day North visit In the beginning of trip Tour operator inform us it will be a shortest trip. Started with Jambo shopping to buy water+daily snacks+baby food+liquor. Then he took us to Port Louis and gave us only 2.30 hrs to lunch/visit and shopping(No local market at all) which was again very very less time for visiting Port Louis. It is capital of MRU and many thing to watch. even he skipped many attraction of Mauritius because they want to drop us back to hotel at 4-4.30pm and send the bus back for Airport pick/drop service. 4. Last day South visit As per tour operator told us it will be a longest tour of MRU. So journey started from Volcano->Ganga Talao->Ship shop+Craft Shop(both are kind of Seaside's commission/cut shop, So expect high prices)->La Vallee Des Couleurs Nature Park(Where a Veg thali cost you more than 5 star buffet meal, One extra glass of water cost is 50 MRU rs. Then they showed a Fake/artificially created 32 color earth and adventure park Where one cheapest ride cost is more then Imagica adventure park fee) They will never took us to Chamarel Which is main beauty of Mauritius where I felt cheated again. Even if you tell them they will never listen and tell us Like that is not worth it. which is a totally lie. I had word with many other group people which been many more places in Mauritius. Please improve your service and don't cheat Indians.

    • Trip to Goa

Very good tour and travel agency Based on their very positive reviews, we booked 3nights & 4-day from 1st aug to 4th aug-19 GOA tour with travel triangle agent travel surety. Vacanza grand in executive room was booked near calagunte Beach & the rooms were great, felt very spacious. The rooms and bathrooms were really clean and in great condition. Hotel Staff was also very courteous, We had informed travel agent about the food preference as we are pure vegetarians, and it was very well taken care at the hotel, great thanks for that. Anniversary cake was arranged & it was like icing on the cake for joy, my son enjoyed the food at the restaurant. Food was yummy & great at vacanza grand inn. Every day executive from travel triangle / travel surety used to esquire me about the trip, which made us feel special & comfort and give us more confidence on travel triangle/ travel surity. Two days sightseeing trip (North & south Goa ) was arranged by the agent , and it was fantastic . only complaint is the local tour organizer stop for lunch at the bad & unhygienic hotel, which dont have washroom facility, which will very difficult for women travellers, please advice/instruct local acb service agent. I found the service and response of this travel agent Mr,Aman Gupta was excellent. Easily 5-stars. Even my whastapp queries were promptly responded , would love to book again with same agent.

The hotel and cab people were also very helpful and would attend to all my queries and concerns at the earliest. Best memories were with my friends as all things were already taken care of so i didn't have to worry about bookings and cabs and transport.
