About Cape Town Attractions

Located at the far south-west of South Africa, Cape Town is home to the country’s Parliament and thus the legislative capital of South Africa. Set up by the Dutch East India Company shortly after their arrival at the coast, the city of Cape Town is the oldest urban area in the country, and was toppled by Johannesburg from the position of the ‘largest’ by Johannesburg after its rise. Located by the Atlantic-washed shore of Table Bay, Cape Town is where people flock to in SA when they want to enjoy a beach vacation as well as a rewarding glimpse of authentic South African wilderness together, because the city offers both in abundance. The tourism in Cape Town has increased and expanded multifold within the last few years. The city has plenty to offer in terms of sightseeing opportunities, activities, and a whole lot of experiences. As there have also been an increase in the culinary scene with plenty of vegan food options available along with dishes from other cultures, the Cape Town tourism has expanded rapidly.

Beaches of Cape Town

One of the main reasons to visit Cape Town is its beautiful beaches. The Clifton Beaches are the most popular ones here for sunbathing and swimming, while at Boulder Beach you can have the unique experience of catching African penguins at their play. Do visit Muizenberg Beach for the cute and colourful Victorian bath boxes, and it also happens to be a Blue Flag Beach and so are Hawston and Grotto Beach, meaning ecologically conscious. For more youthful places, opt for Camps Bay Beach or Bikini Beach.

Wildlife of Cape Town

Who needs Narnia when there is Cape Town tourism in the real world? Right within the urban premises of the city, you will find a bunch of unique wild animals which will just make your day. Be it the sunbathing, furry brown Dassies of Table Mountain, or the Zebra-like Quaggas near M3, the friendly Cape Fur Seals in the harbours of Kalk or Hout Bay or the adorable African penguins at the Boulder Beach – these animals will make you feel like you are sitting right inside a Discovery Channel Show. There are official places to interact with animals as well, like Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, Cango Wildlife Ranch, Brenton Blue Butterfly Reserve or Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre.

Here are some of the best attractions which you should visit on your trip to Cape Town.

1. Table Mountain

The most important landmark of Cape Town travel is the Table Mountain, lying inside the National Park of the same name. A trek up to the flat table-like summit of the mountain takes around 2-4 hours depending on the route you choose. There are cable car facilities for those who want to save time and energy. The view of the national park, Cape Town and the entire Cape Peninsula from the top is the most spectacular view of the trip.

2. Robben Island

Robben Island off the Table Bay used to be a notorious prison for over 400 years, and during the infamous Apartheid era, it held Nelson Mandela before he went on to reform the country. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a historic location, adorned with attractions like the Nelson Mandela Gateway and Museum, and the former cell of his where he spent 18 long years.

3. Town Hall and Castle of Good Hope

The Town Hall is a towering Neo-Renaissance and colonial style mix building, with a 60ft high bell tower modelled after London’s Bell Tower. It overlooks the Grand Parade where Nelson Mandela made his famous speech in 1990. Across the Parade, the Castle of Good Hope stands as the oldest surviving building of South Africa, built in 1666-79 for the Dutch Governors.

4. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens

Located on the eastern slope of the Table Mountain, this beautiful location is home to over 20,000 native African floras. Do not miss the proteas, cycads, the Tree Canopy Walk and the Sculpture Garden.

5. Signal Hill and the Noon Gun

Signal Hill along the slopes of Lion’s Head Peak is where tourists and Cape Town people gather for stunning sunsets and picturesque views of Cape Town, Table Bay and the Atlantic Beyond. This summit was earlier used as a signalling platform for harbour-bound ships and the Noon Gun was used to let the sailors know the noon time.

People and Culture of Cape Town

Cape Town has a rich population of about 3,740,026 people. The majority of the population comes of colored groups, followed by black Africans, White, Asian or Indian, and the other ethnicities following all these groups. The history and culture of the city is quite rich to lend a character of its own. The mixed-race backgrounds provide different religions to breathe together in a city. The most prominent ones are Christianity and Islam. The people of Cape Town, also referred to as Capetonians are quite friendly and enjoy a good rate of happiness level generally.

Excellent trip ..... Happy with the appearance of cab driver and trip arrenger mr sumit and really enjoyed a lot. the hotel in shimla was good in decoration and quality but in very far from shimla main town and road conditions are very bad have to improve that point and after 10 pm when returning to hotel saw a tendua crossing the road so I was not happy with that matter and inform mr sumit at that time. Very bad response from kasturi as when ever called regarding any issue on trip she not even pickup my call also not call me back so very much disappointed with the company's contact person but walk holiday is fantastic and thanking mr sumit for his very quick response and help. Thanking mr jogindar and kuldeep for their humble and gentle behaviour. Other wise all are good but request you to provide a driver with voucher so that he can aware of the plan. • Trip to Himachal

I'm highly impressed with the level of services I've received at each point for our Manali trip by Travel Light (Tripmarlo) and TravelTriangle. From pocket friendly trip packages to easy payment process, from bus to cab boarding-deboarding, from hotel check-in to sight seeing. A special thanks to our travel consultant Kanhaiya Gupta who was responsive and personalised our travel package as per our comfort and requirements. Appreciate all the efforts he had put into making this trip easy and safe for girl travellers. Our cab pilot was punctual and shared alot of information about the place. A shout out to the Hotel Out Town located at the heart of Manali-Aleo with a scenic view of entire Manali at our feet and Snow top mountains at sky above. The hotel staff was very polite and generous. The breakfast and dinner served was delicious. This trip was only possible with constant efforts of your team and each step made it memorable. I'm extremely likely to refer them and book my next trip. Thank you.

    • Trip to Cape Town

Hi sirs Thanks for arranging our South Africa tour consisting of 12N / 13 Days. Would like to give some fair feedback for your reference and records and corrective actions wherever necessary. The feedback is graded on a scale ranging from 9 to 1, where 9 is the best and 1 you can understand. I will be rating the following for your benefit of better understanding – Hotels for Stay Breakfast in the same hotels Transportation / Logistics Drivers Local numbers for emergency calls for any requirement Starting with Hotel for Stay – Peermont Suites – Comfortable stay but so great, hence would like to give rating of 6 Breakfast in the above hotel was good but not many choices, hence would like to rate it as 7 Kruger Park Lodge – Comfortable stay, we liked it. Hence would like to give rating of 8 Breakfast in the above was just ok and nothing great, hence rating is 5 Sun Soho – very compact room, child bed is a sofa converted into bed, my son is almost 6 ft. hence rating is 6 Breakfast in the above hotel is good, manageable. Would like to rate it as 7 Blackwaters River Lodge – Pls do not recommend this place, its very pathetic. Only plus point is it is close to Knysna. Otherwise there is no reason why this hotel was given to us. We had to travel to go places. Would like to give ratings 4 Breakfast in the above hotel is also very pathetic. We were the only guests in this hotel and the hardly any choices in food. Hence we would like to rate it as below 3 Holiday Inn – Name is big, but the room is very small to accommodate 3 people in the room. It was just ordinary room with a double bed ( just not enough for two people to sleep ) and a single bed. Hence, would like to rate this stay of 5 Breakfast in the above hotel was just fine. Its ok. Hence rating may be like 6. Transportation / Logistics was good all thru. Good vehicles given to us. Would like to rate it as 9 Drivers – Both Haroon Ismail upto drop to Johannesburg after 6 days and thereafter Sipho from pick from George airport till drop us back to Cape Town international airport were very good. They were humble, obedient and very supportive. We like both and would like to rate them as 9. Local contacts for emergency was just fine. However, we enjoyed the full tour without any problems and your arrangements were fine. The Shark Cage dive was cancelled by the tour agent there due to sea roughness as told us. They said they would refund money to you. Pls let me know how you want to refund us the same. Many Thanks once again for arranging the tour for us. Regards / Ramesh

    • Trip to Kerala

The overall experience was good due to the cab driver otherwise GSK had provided hotel for Munnar which was 1.5 hour up & 1.5 hour down from the main town so mostly 3 hours of our journey was consumed by travelling which they could have saved by providing stay at munnar itself. And our last day was at Kovalam that too which they provided was around 10 Kms far from beach and at the time of booking they didn't ask wheather we wanted beach facing or not and the quality of room was not upto mark.......And even the cab driver was not updated where to take as per itienary ..............................So dont go for GSK travels in future

    • Trip to Kerala

Though everything went well but things could have been better. Below is my detailed Feedback: 1. Hotel (Summer Castle) in Munnar was 18 Km away from the tourist attractions. We can ignore that once but not the hospitality received at Hotel. No Hot Water in the room, Intercom Not working, WiFi not working, Pathetic Breakfast Menu and Dinner menu not as per what they charge. Overall, Very Poor Experince at Munnar Hotel. 2. Hotel Spice Inn in Thekkady is excellent but it is 12 Kms away from town and its literally on Highway. So You can't really go to market or town for evening walk etc. 3. Cab Driver: He left us under Scorching sun at Alleppy to save Parking charges while we were waiting for House Boat Owner to pick us up . It literally took them 1 hour to pick us . Also, House Boat was not anchored at Starting Point but was there somewhere mid of the Lake. So they arranged a power boat to take us to House boat. This process wasted 1.5 Hours and we checked in House Boat at 1.30 pm instead of 12 pm. Cab Driver always giving some or the other excuses for locations which we wanted to visit. Overall, ok-ok kind of experience (not too good, not too bad) .

Our trip to Sri Lanka was organised with Boomlanka through Travel Triangle. Pooja of TT was very prompt in her responses. I must mention that Boomlanka had organised the trip in a very professional manner. A word of praise for the coordinator, Deepti, who was very helpful with whatever information I wanted. All throughout the trip she enquired on an every day basis. Mr. Dankan is an extremely friendly and warm person. The car was our home for 6 days and he our host. The accommodations were good except that they were too far off. Once we checked in, there was absolutely no way we could come out to explore the town. The wi fi too was very weak in the hotels. Our overall experience was awesome. Thanks Boomlanka.

    • Trip to Bhutan

It was a great trip!!! Great place with nice people. We did face some issue as we were informed in the last leg of our trip that there had been some mix up and we had to shift to a different resort at the last moment in Paro. It was in the last two days of our trip. The new place was good: Ravens Nest, however food was an issue. Yet our agent Subash came to resort form the other end of town in the evening and took us out to dinner. Our driver Sonam is a great human being, we really liked him, and yes he was spot on with his timing. The hike to Tiger’s Nest was tiring but fulfilling. Punakha is a beautiful place. The dzong is must visit. And ofcourse, the view of Himalays (including Everest) from the flight was mesmerizing.
