    Coimbatore, “The Manchester of South India”, is a popular tourist destination easily reached by various modes of travel. The district is connected via five major national highways. Coimbatore also has two railway stations inside the city centre and eight more stations within the district. Complete with its own international airport, Coimbatore is well-connected to the country and the world. Situated on the banks of the River Noyyal, the charming city of Coimbatore welcomes you to explore its ancient temples, monuments, waterfalls, and forests.       The district is served by Coimbatore International Airport (CJB), located in Peelamedu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The airport offers domestic flights to major Indian cities, such as Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai. It also connects internationally to countries like the UAE, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. The airport is located 11 km from Coimbatore city centre, and you can take a taxi or book a cab.

      Coimbatore Junction is well connected to the railway network. Construction of railway lines in Coimbatore first started in the late 1800s under colonial rule. You can access Coimbatore via rail from most major Indian cities. Coimbatore North, Podanur, and Mettupalayam are other important train stations within the district. A train journey is always more comfortable than a road trip; therefore, you should book your tickets well in time to ensure no unnecessary hassles.

      Five major national highways pass through Coimbatore: NH 544 (Salem–Kochi Highway), NH 81 (Trichy Road), NH 181 (Mettupalayam Road), NH 948 (Sathy Road), and NH 83 (Pollachi Road). Thus, Coimbatore is incredibly well-connected to all major towns in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. The State Road Transport Corporation of Tamil Nadu and Kerala manages buses between Coimbatore and various cities in the region.
