Information about Visa - tourists coming from other countries must have a valid passport before entering the city. Tourists with an authorized passport must check with Thailand’s list of approved entries before starting their trip. You can stay in the country for thirty days without a visa. If you wish to stay longer than that, you will have to apply for the same at the Royal Thai embassy. It is mandatory to have a visa before entering Chiang Mai because visas are not available once you have reached. If you wish to extend your visa, an extension for ten days is available at any immigration checkpoint. Also, check the tourist policies once before finalising your plans.

Events - Chiang Mai hosts several festivals and events that are celebrated with much fun and fervour. These festivals are an illustration of the rich culture and natural heritage of Chiang Mai. Banks and ATMs information - In Chiang Mai, the banks remain open from morning 8.30 to afternoon 3.30, from Monday to Friday. The banks are closed on Saturday, Sunday and other national holidays. Even though the banks get closed by afternoon, the ATMs in Chiang Mai remain open throughout the day. ATM vending machines are found in almost all parts of Chiang Mai, be it rural or urban. Although it is preferable to carry cash in hand still you can rely on the ATMs for money. The maximum withdrawal amount per day is 20,000 baht. Also, confirm with your bank if they levy any additional charges if you dispense cash at Chiang Mai.
