How to Reach Ranikhet in Almora

Ranikhet is one of the most beautiful and Northern India’s famous hill stations located in Uttarakhand’s Almora district. Ranikhet is well-connected from different cities in India through direct and indirect connectivity by road, railways, and air. Pantnagar Airport (PGH) is the nearest airport from Ranikhet and the nearest railhead is situated at a distance of 75 km. Direct connectivity is also available by road. Ranikhet offers many sight-seeing places like the huge terrace orchards for growing fruit trees. The best time certainly to visit Ranikhet is during the winter season post-October to watch the whole hill station covered with beautiful snow. The best possible way to reach Ranikhet is by train. By Flight: The nearest airport to reach Ranikhet is the Pantnagar airport which is located approximately 109 kilometers away from Ranikhet. Post the flight travel, you can hire a taxi (about 3.5 hours of travel) or you can also travel by local bus (2 hours 30 mins) transport service. From major cities like Delhi, there are direct flights available to reach Pantnagar. This option is convenient for people living in and around Delhi.

By Train: The nearest railway station to reach Ranikhet is Kathgodam which is about 75 km away from Ranikhet. There are many trains that go through Kathgodam like CNB Garib Rath (12256), KGM DDN Express (14119) or UTR Sampark K express (12255).

By Road:

By Bus: Ranikhet is very well-connected by all the major cities in India and nearby cities like Kathgodam (75 km), Nainital (56 km), Ramnagar (96 km), and direct buses from Delhi (359 km) which can take about 7-8 hours of travel. This can also be one of the best ways to reach Ranikhet. There are other means of transport like cab services or self-drive services from nearby cities like Haldwani and Nainital.

By Car: Traveling to Ranikhet by road is also a good option depending on the distance and place you are traveling from. Delhi, a major city, is about 359 km from Ranikhet and will take about 7-8 hours of travel. There are many such cities nearby that can make traveling by road easy. Being a hill station, especially during winters, one must be very cautious while traveling. You can also opt for Local taxis from places like Haldwani, Nainital, Kathgodam who are well-known to the local roads.

It was good experience. However few things should have been cleared in the quotation. They have added lal tibba in the itinerary where there cab doesn't go. They asked us to visit other places instead of lal tibba. We visited lal tibba by walk as it was only 1 km from the other places. When we visited the other places via cab, lal tibba was in our way. What was the point of saying that we dont go there?? What i have understood is that they themselves not aware of the route. There was lack of clarity about th places. Otherwise overall experience was fine Everything except clarity for one of the place.

Driver tends to avoid visiting spots that cause him inconvenience. They shall be mandated by the agent to cover the spots given in the quote in any situation. The payment process seemed a bit haphazard. The website generates invoice other than amount decided. It has a scope to improve. Rest of the service was good, trip cost was reasonable. Good service.

La Nivasa hotel was very nice and the food, hospitality of the staff was very friendly. Specail thanks to Deepak who worked in La Nivasa for taking care of our request. The Cab driver experience was okay and could be improved. The driving partner ask for extra cash if they need to wait after 6 p.m. , this was never communicated before the trip and they do create a scene out of it. Last time when I visited Manali faced similar issue and this time in Nainital was not so different experience.
