The rainfall in Andaman starts early from May and usually lasts till September. The city of Port Blair witnesses a tropical monsoon climate throughout the year. As per the itinerary, 3-star hotel would be provided, whereas hotels allotted were below standard and condition of the rooms were very bad. Which places should I not miss in Andaman?

The essentials are the Cellular Jail, Ross Island and North Bay in and around Port Blair; Radhanagar, Elephant and Kalapathar beaches on Havelock (Swaraj Dweep); the Natural Bridge and beaches of Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep); and, with more time, Baratang's limestone caves and Saddle Peak in the north. Radhanagar, named Asia's Best Beach in 2004, and the Cellular Jail Light & Sound show.

How many days are enough to see Andaman?

Four to seven nights is the sweet spot. Four to five nights covers Port Blair and Havelock, five to six adds Neil Island, and six to seven lets you add Baratang or a North Andaman leg to Diglipur. Because you island-hop by ferry, anything under four nights feels rushed once travel time is counted.

Which islands should I visit in Andaman?

Most trips are built around three islands: Port Blair (the gateway for history and day trips), Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) for beaches and diving, and Neil (Shaheed Dweep) for a quieter pace. Add Baratang for its limestone caves and mud volcanoes, or Diglipur in North Andaman for Saddle Peak, if you have six nights or more.

What is the best time to visit Andaman?

October to May is the best time to visit, with calm seas, reliable ferries, and ideal conditions for beaches, sightseeing, and water sports. The June to September monsoon brings rough seas that can suspend boat services to Jolly Buoy, Barren Island, and the outer islands, though it is also the greenest and cheapest season.

How do I reach Andaman and hop between islands?

Fly into Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru or Hyderabad. Passenger ships from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam take 3 to 4 days. Between the islands you travel by government or private ferries, which take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours to Havelock and about 1 to 1.5 hours onward to Neil. Book your ferry tickets in advance during the peak season.

Do I need permits to visit places in Andaman?

Indian nationals do not need a special permit for the main islands; just carry a valid photo ID. Specific sites have their own rules: the Baratang route crosses the Jarawa Tribal Reserve by a timed vehicle convoy (no stopping or photography), Saddle Peak requires a Forest Department permit, and the Nicobar group, including Campbell Bay, is restricted and largely closed to tourism. Foreign nationals should check the current rules for protected areas.
