Adventure Activities Melbourne

There is no dearth of things to do in Melbourne, Australia. The second-busiest city of the country always remains abuzz with the hundreds of different opportunities to enjoy the city.

Shopping in Melbourne

Melbourne is rightfully called the dream destination of shopping in Asia-Pacific. Hardly any other city can compete with its level of dynamic variety and range of shopping. The favourite market in Melbourne is the Queen Victoria Market. From clothes to jewellery to fresh fruits – there is nothing that this market does not sell. Wait for the summer and winter months for the fascinating night market here. The Royal Arcade and the Block Arcade are two magnificent vintage shopping destinations here.

Wildlife in Melbourne

Melbourne itself is an urban hub. But in and around the city, there are quite a few places to enjoy wildlife from up close. Werribee Open Range Zoo resembles the African Savannah and has an overnight safari feature. Melbourne Zoo is known for the Trail of Elephants. In Phillip Island Nature Park, you can see the rarest of them all – penguins, koalas and seals. Feeding animals at the Moonlit Sanctuary are one of the top things to do in Melbourne.

1. Yarra River Cruise

Cruising down the Yarra River and taking in the beautiful city is one of the best things to do in Melbourne. As the boat slowly glides down the stream, keep an eye out for Birrarung Marr, which means ‘river of mist and shadows’ which is what the Aboriginal people called the river in their language. It is a waterfront park which demonstrates and celebrates the ties that Aboriginals had with the Yarra River.

2. Tram tour of the city

The red coloured, toy-train looking City Circle trams It starts from Flinders Street, goes around the CBD area and passes many historic buildings like the Parliament House, Old Treasury, Princess Theatre and the Windsor Hotel on its 50 minutes loop back to where it started. One can hop on any of them and hop off wherever they want. The next one would be coming in 12 minutes. It is one of the best free things to do in Melbourne.

3. Peninsula Hot Springs

Peninsula Hot Springs is a lovely natural hot spring and day spa centre near Melbourne. There are mineral pools and private baths of naturally warm water, helping the visitors to relax and rejuvenate in a serene ambience. A visit to the hot springs and soaking oneself in the therapeutic smoking water is one of the best things to do in Melbourne, although it is a bit far away from the main city.

4. Eureka Skydeck 88

Skydeck 88 atop Eureka building is southern hemisphere’s highest viewing platform. The most spectacular view of the entire city and beyond can be seen from the 88th floor of Eureka building. As an additional feature, there is The Edge, which is a glass cube protruding out from the building’s body for 3 metres. Standing in The Edge gives the ecstatic feeling of suspension 88 floors above the ground.

5. Wine tours in Yarra Valley

Yarra Valley has more than 70 known wineries and vineyards in its lap. Domain Chardon, known for sparkling wine and Giant Steps, known for chardonnays and pinot noirs are the two most popular vineyards over here. One can go about on their own or take one of the customised wine tours – it is anyway one of the most fun things to do in Melbourne.

Deeksha's 10 days trip to Melbourne

Absolutely loved the entire trip planned for us by FlyGoldfinch! Every step from itinerary planning, visa, customization of activities, Kruti, Komal and Gautam from the team were incredibly helpful. Having 24/7 help and service while actually in holiday destination was also super helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a better team to plan the holiday for us, highly recommend, looking forward to planning the next one with them as well! :)

Neeraj's 7 days trip to Melbourne

Really satisfied with the trip! All the hotels provided had pretty good location. Rohit from Hubholiday was very active throughout all stages of the trip, right from planning the itinerary to the very end . We planned our entire itinerary during late hours and Rohit was happily available to receive calls during those odd hours mostly after 12 midnight! Execution was as good as the planning. These guys , Rohit and Prashant, were available for queries throughout the trip. They entertained even the last minute changes. Overall an excellent trip to a beautiful country!

Sachin's 10 days trip to Melbourne

We did not like the arrangements at all. They could have been much better planned and executed if they would have thought about their customers even a bit. After hundreds of calls, messages and emails from my husband, the final vouchers were handed to us 8 hours before our flight.. we did not even have time to take a careful look at them.. The sightseeing tours were not selected thoughtfully. Most of the sightseeings were at max 1.5 hours long and repititive like the Skydeck in Melbourne, Skypoint in Gold coast, Harbour cruise in Sydney, etc.. and then the entire day was left free, which is good for some days but not all days which was the case with us. Better sightseeing tours should have been planned. We had to book several additional sightseeing tours on Viator.com so as to be able to experience Australia.. If we would have followed only the itinerary prepared by the agent, we wouldn't even have seen a Kangaroo or Koala Bear even after spending so much money and staying for 10 days in Australia.. It was evident that the cheapest of sightseeing tours available were booked for us, for example, the cruise in Sydney was an hour long and consisted of us just sitting on a ferry and seeing the harbour without anyone telling us what we are seeing.. It was a complete waste of time, we got much more information while riding on Ferries for our visit to the zoo that we booked separately.. No pickups from our Hotels were arranged even when complimentary pickups were available with the tours booked.. No directions were provided to us regarding where to reach and how.. No information on local transport available and how to travel was provided.. We know how Google Maps work and therefore got to the specified locations, however, any aged or not so tech savvy travellers would have missed their tours repeatedly.. It was a total chaos. On top of all that, this was my husband's birthday trip and he had told this to the agent several times, but they were not even courteous enough to book us a cake.. The agent wished a very Happy Birthday to my husband on Whatsapp though.. The rooms booked for us in Sydney didn't have complimentary breakfast and were so small that there was hardly any space to stand apart from the queen bed that was provided to the 2 of us.. The upgrades were available starting at just Rs. 1500 per night but they booked us the cheapest option so that they could pocket as much money as possible.. We felt cheated time and again during the entire trip. We will never travel with HubHolidays again and would suggest others too not to make that mistake..

There are quite a few. Yarra River Cruise, local sightseeing, exploring the city’s museums and other iconic landmarks and sunbathing and swimming in the few beaches are some of them.
