About Jama Masjid In Old Delhi

One of the major tourist attractions, Jama Masjid is the largest and well-known mosque in India.

Located across the road that runs from the Red Fort to the extreme of Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid is a grand yet chaotic thoroughfare of unusually glamorous Old Delhi. Jama Masjid, built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan when Delhi was known as Shahjahanabad, remains the hot spot for foreign and national tourists. The mosque is redolent on the grand Mughal architecture that reminds you of the glorious Indian history. Some elements are borrowed from Islamic, Indian and Persian architectural styles to strike a perfect balance of all three styles. The distinctive features of the Jama Masjid that include tall minaret towers and protruding domes can be easily distinguished from far away. Jama Masjid's history throws light on the reason why Shah Jahan wanted to place the pulpit higher than his residence and throne. The original name of Jama Masjid was “Masjid-e-Jahanuma” whose meaning adheres to “a mosque that commands a view of the world”.

Take a walk through the old yet vivid lanes of Chandni Chowk that are always dotted with traders who have lived here through generations. You can easily spot old Havelis and traditional-style homes that have stayed the same over the years.

Jama Masjid is also known as the Masjid e Jahan Numa. It is one of the most visited places in Delhi. This large mosque has been the center of attraction for many people. It was built during the years 1650 and 1656. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan was the brain behind this marvelous mausoleum. The cost of construction of this amazing marvel was approximately INR 1 million. Apart from being a marvelous architecture, Jama Masjid is also a place of worship for millions. The mosque can accommodate a total of 25,000 people at the same time. If you are on your way to the capital city, then don’t forget to visit this serene Mughal marvel.

Milind's 4 days trip to Old Delhi

It was well organised trip on short duration. You set our expectations right and delivered on what you promised. Given the huge number of devotees and restrictions in place a lot of things did not work the way we wanted but such things can't be blamed on agent. The drivers were very helpful and shared right short of information, you have been extremely helpful in making last minute changes as requested. I could not have asked for more. Thank you for making our maha kumbh yatra possible. It was great experience to visit Kashi, prayagraj and Ayodhya in one go. Ayodhya Darshan and visiting maha kumbh sangam

Sri's 3 days trip to Old Delhi

I recently had the pleasure of traveling through the Golden Triangle of India, thanks to the exceptional service provided by Travel Triangle and Aapka TripWala. From start to finish, they ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience with their impeccable planning and friendly service. The journey took me through the vibrant and historical cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, each offering its own unique charm and historical significance. In Delhi, I marveled at the blend of ancient monuments like the Qutub Minar, Red Fort and modern life bustling through the city. Agra stole my heart with the ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal. Jaipur, the Pink City, captivated me with its majestic Amber Fort and the vibrant Hawa Mahal. The hospitality and rich cultural heritage in each city made this trip unforgettable. The Golden Triangle tour, perfectly curated by Travel Triangle and Aapka Trip Wala, is a must for anyone seeking to experience the essence of India's diverse and vibrant culture in a short span of time. I highly recommend their services for a memorable and hassle-free travel experience. There are countless highlights from my trip, but two experiences stand out in particular: 1. The ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra: Witnessing this iconic symbol of love and devotion up close was truly awe-inspiring. Its stunning white marble façade, intricate carvings, and serene gardens create an atmosphere of timeless elegance that left a lasting impression on me. 2. The vibrant cultural experience at Chowki Dhani resort in Jaipur: This resort perfectly encapsulates the elegance and royalty of the Pink City. From the traditional Rajasthani architecture to the authentic folk performances and delectable cuisine, every moment at Chowki Dhani was a celebration of Jaipur’s rich heritage and regal charm.
