About Delhi Destinations

Delhi, the capital of India, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and modernity.

From the beauty of Mughal-era monuments like the Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb to the spiritual calm of the Lotus Temple and Akshardham, the city offers something for every kind of traveller. Bustling bazaars in Chandni Chowk contrast with sleek malls in South Delhi, while yummy street food carts serve up spicy chaats just minutes away from fine dining restaurants. Delhi also serves as a gateway to the famous Golden Triangle—Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.

Best Time To Visit Delhi

The best time to visit Delhi is from October to March, when the weather is most comfortable for sightseeing and outdoor activities. October and November bring mild autumn temperatures averaging 15–30°C, with clear skies and low humidity. December to February are the coolest months, with average temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C, making it ideal for exploring historical sites and markets; however, mornings and evenings can be quite chilly.

How To Reach Delhi

By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) connects Delhi to major global and Indian cities. Located 16 km from the city centre, it’s easily accessible by metro and taxis.

By Train: Delhi is a central rail hub with key stations like New Delhi (NDLS), Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Old Delhi, offering extensive connections across India.

By Road: Well-connected via national highways, Delhi can be reached by buses, taxis, or private vehicles from nearby cities like Agra, Jaipur, and Chandigarh.

Getting Around in Delhi

Metro: The Delhi Metro is the fastest and most reliable way to travel around the city, covering all major areas and tourist spots.

Auto-rickshaws & Cycle-rickshaws: Ideal for short distances; always insist on the meter or agree on a fare before starting.

Taxis & Ride-hailing Apps: Cabs from Ola and Uber are widely available, convenient, and safer for longer rides.

Buses: Run by DTC, they are budget-friendly but can be crowded; air-conditioned buses are available on popular routes.

Things to do in Delhi

Visit the Red Fort & Jama Masjid: Step into Mughal history at the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its grand architecture and historical significance. Just nearby, the Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques, offers beautiful views from its minaret and a glimpse into Islamic heritage.

Tour India Gate & Rajpath: Walk around the India Gate, a war memorial honouring Indian soldiers, especially beautiful when lit up at night. The surrounding area along Rajpath is ideal for relaxed walks, with views of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House) and lush gardens.

Explore Humayun’s Tomb & Qutub Minar: Check out the beauty of Humayun’s Tomb, and visit Qutub Minar, a 73-meter-high minaret surrounded by ancient ruins and the famous Iron Pillar.

Wander through Chandni Chowk: Experience the charm of Old Delhi in Chandni Chowk—one of the oldest markets in India. Try some yummy local street foods like parathas and jalebis, shop for spices, textiles, and traditional jewellery, and take a rickshaw ride through its narrow lanes.

Relax at Lodhi Garden or Visit Akshardham Temple: Enjoy the peaceful setting of Lodhi Garden, filled with 15th-century tombs and greenery, perfect for morning walks or picnics. Alternatively, visit Akshardham Temple, known for its detailed carvings, boat ride, cultural exhibits, and evening water show.

Essential Information for Tourists

Respect Local Customs: Modest clothing is appreciated, especially in religious places. It is also important to remove shoes before entering temples or someone's home.

Use Trusted Transport Options: Prefer app-based taxis (Ola, Uber) over street-hailed ones. The Delhi Metro is clean, reliable, and an ideal mode of transportation for navigating the city.

Be Cautious of Tourist Scams: Don’t fall for overly friendly strangers offering unsolicited help near monuments or railway stations.

Explore the Cuisine—But Carefully: Try Delhi’s famous street food like chole bhature, golgappe, and kebabs—but stick to busy, well-reviewed stalls. If you have a sensitive stomach, opt for bottled water and avoid raw salads from street vendors.

Plan for Sightseeing: Top attractions like the Red Fort, India Gate, Qutub Minar, and Lotus Temple can be crowded—visit early to avoid long queues. Many monuments are closed on Mondays; please check the opening hours beforehand.

Language: English is widely understood in most parts of Delhi. A few basic Hindi phrases like “Dhanyavaad” (thank you) and “Kitne ka hai?” (How much is it?) can be helpful and appreciated.

Stay Connected & Safe: Buy a local SIM card for easy access to maps, rides, and emergency contacts. Save the local police helpline (100) and women’s helpline (1091).

Milind's 4 days trip to Delhi

It was well organised trip on short duration. You set our expectations right and delivered on what you promised. Given the huge number of devotees and restrictions in place a lot of things did not work the way we wanted but such things can't be blamed on agent. The drivers were very helpful and shared right short of information, you have been extremely helpful in making last minute changes as requested. I could not have asked for more. Thank you for making our maha kumbh yatra possible. It was great experience to visit Kashi, prayagraj and Ayodhya in one go. Ayodhya Darshan and visiting maha kumbh sangam

Sri's 3 days trip to Delhi

I recently had the pleasure of traveling through the Golden Triangle of India, thanks to the exceptional service provided by Travel Triangle and Aapka TripWala. From start to finish, they ensured a seamless and enjoyable experience with their impeccable planning and friendly service. The journey took me through the vibrant and historical cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, each offering its own unique charm and historical significance. In Delhi, I marveled at the blend of ancient monuments like the Qutub Minar, Red Fort and modern life bustling through the city. Agra stole my heart with the ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal. Jaipur, the Pink City, captivated me with its majestic Amber Fort and the vibrant Hawa Mahal. The hospitality and rich cultural heritage in each city made this trip unforgettable. The Golden Triangle tour, perfectly curated by Travel Triangle and Aapka Trip Wala, is a must for anyone seeking to experience the essence of India's diverse and vibrant culture in a short span of time. I highly recommend their services for a memorable and hassle-free travel experience. There are countless highlights from my trip, but two experiences stand out in particular: 1. The ethereal beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra: Witnessing this iconic symbol of love and devotion up close was truly awe-inspiring. Its stunning white marble façade, intricate carvings, and serene gardens create an atmosphere of timeless elegance that left a lasting impression on me. 2. The vibrant cultural experience at Chowki Dhani resort in Jaipur: This resort perfectly encapsulates the elegance and royalty of the Pink City. From the traditional Rajasthani architecture to the authentic folk performances and delectable cuisine, every moment at Chowki Dhani was a celebration of Jaipur’s rich heritage and regal charm.

Prosenjit's 5 days trip to Delhi

The Hotel (Sita International) which was booked for us in Delhi was not at all Good., simply pathetic. So, it's strictly recommended not to visit or book any room at Sita International in New Delhi (Near to New Delhi Railway Station). The hotel was booked by the travel agency & the name of the Hotel is Sita International. But there is no sign of international standards & quality of that Hotel. They're using that "International" tag only for business that's it. The "deluxe room" they provided to us (Me, my wife & my 5-year-old son) is a remarkably simple ordinary one- or two-star category hotel room. The blanket they provided to us was torn. For reference please I've attached pictures of that blanket. The button under the shower in the bathroom was broken. Now after sharing all the information in reception, the hotel people behaved very casually & asked me to adjust. I informed my travel agent (Back to Holiday) regarding the issue, and my travel agent confirmed that in the evening they'll change my room but after returning from sightseeing the hotel said, "Room change is not possible because all rooms are booked". So, this is the situation I faced during my travel on the very first day (14.10.24). And in the morning The Hotel owner talked with me on the phone & told me that I made a quite simple issue into a big issue. So after paying advance to the travel agency, I faced this kind of situation. Last but not least, in the morning I found RAT in that room. And they're called it's an International Hotel. So strictly & Strictly recommended before booking anything think twice. Yes, after that remaining two Hotels are good (Gurukripa @ Mathura and Royal View @ Jaipur) & as per the standard, especially the last one (Royal View at Jaipur- 3-star category Hotel) .... Now regarding Cab. The Cab driver has a huge setting with all the guides in each & everywhere (Agra, Mathura, Jaipur) .... Directly & indirectly, he forced us to hire a guide so that he could earn a commission. And you'll not deny it because, in the middle of the tour, it's very risky & not at all safe. The driver has a very good local connection & I was traveling with my wife & my 5-year-old son. If I refused to hire a guide, he could have done anything locally because of his local connection & we're very new in that area. When at Jaipur we told that driver we don't require any guide he told me during travel maybe we'll face problems. Now in that situation what do you do? So as per his recommendation, we're forced to hire a guide as per the driver's choice, and we paid him Rs. 800 as decided by the driver (The normal government guide charge is Rs. 400).... So, if you'll travel along with your family (Like wife & son) you've got to accept all the terms & conditions of the driver because he has a strong local connection & you don't have that connection. Not only that, the driver will take you to some local shops where he has a good connection & if you buy something from that shop the driver will get a commission. Even on this trip, our driver took some local shops in Agra where he has a commission-based connection. Otherwise, he was not interested in taking you to some local shops where he'd not get any commission.
