Located on Elephanta Island, Elephanta Caves is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formerly known as Gharapurichi Leni, the caves come under the Archaeological Survey of India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the location has several caves. Prominent ones include the sculptures of ‘Trimurti’ representing three-headed Shiva, ‘Ardhnareshwar’ depicting Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in the same body, and ‘Gangadhar’ portraying the river Ganga as she cascades to the Earth. A ferry will lead you to Elephanta Island.
5. Siddhivinayak Temple

Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Siddhivinayak Temple is a place of worship housing the two and a half feet wide deity carved off a single piece of black stone.
