The fort has a rich history and is a place where the battles between Portuguese, Marathas, and Britishers were fought.

Vasai Fort History

In the year 1534, Vasai Fort came under the custody of Portuguese after the defeat of Sultan Bahadur Shah. The fort served as a military base and a base for commercial activities for Portuguese. The place became really important and they made Vasai as their capital city. Portuguese constructed seven churches, hospitals, colleges, convents, and administrative centers in and around the Vasai Fort. The fort was also used by the Portuguese Governor as his official residence whenever he visited Vasai. The Fort stretched in an area of 110 acres and became one of the most strategic locations for Portugueses. Meanwhile, the Marathas kept trying to take possession of the Vasai Fort and finally, on 12th May 1739, Marathas won the battle against Portuguese and took the control of Fort Vasai.

Sumit's 5 days trip to Mumbai

I got the feedback from the guest for which I booked the trip they said it was very good until the last hotel named hotel maharaja was booked for us, there were cockroaches and bad smell in the room and this ruined the whole experience, I have given 7 because of that only else this whole trip was 9/10

Ramaswamy's 5 days trip to Mumbai

Hotels booked are not as expected and situated away from main area. Hotel Aristo at Lonavala is below average. Cab driver was very helpful but always on mobile during driving which I have advised him frequently not to attend phone calls during driving but not followed. Some times he leaves us on the road instead of nearby parking lot to avoid parking fee. Despite some setbacks we enjoyed well. When we went Orissa tour during Feb.25 booked through you, everything was fine
