History of Bandra Worli Sea Link
Initially, Mahim Causeway was the only connect between the suburbs and South Mumbai. Thus, the Maharashtra Government felt the need to introduce a sea link and so proposed the plan for this bridge. Bandra Worli Sea Link history dates back to the year 2000 when its construction commenced. It took a decade to complete the construction and was finally ready by the year 2010. In 1999, Bal Thackrey laid the foundation stone of this bridge. The cost incurred in the making of this bridge is INR 16 billion and the proposed cost was INR 6.6 billion. Bandra Worli Sea Link construction faced a delay of 5 years and therefore caused a hike in the cost.
