How To Reach Santorini From Chennai

Santorini Airport has limited international capacity. During the summer season, which is the peak time for tourism, incoming and outgoing flights run by different carriers are available, not only for other Greek locations but some European cities as well.

By Air: However, there is no direct Chennai to Santorini flight. Etihad, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air, Emirates and Lufthansa are the most popular carriers that fly from Chennai to Athens. From Athens, Aegean Airlines and Olympic Airways have direct 40-45 minutes flights to Santorini Airport, which is 6km away from the main capital city of Fira.

By Ferry: Although both Chennai and Santorini are port cities, there is no waterway connection. Ferries for Santorini can be caught from Athens and occasionally from Crete and Mykonos Islands. Blue Star and Hellenic Seaways are the two popular liners which ferry people to Santorini from Athens via some of the other islands in the Aegean Sea. Blue Star takes 8 hours but is more comfortable, Hellenic takes 5 hours but the ride is bumpy.

By Road/Rail: There are no roadways or railways to Santorini from Chennai or anywhere else. Buses, shuttles and ATVs are common within the island of Santorini, but railway network does not exist.
