If travelling from Shimla to Kullu, it is important to know the following information about the distance between shimla and kullu and the various modes of transport available.

Shimla To Kullu By Air: To travel from Shimla to Kullu by air, take a flight from the Shimla Airport (SLV) which is located at a distance of 22 kms from the main city. The airport is operated by the Airports Authority of India and has a single runway. One can take a flight from SLV to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) or Chandigarh International Airport to travel to Kullu as there are no direct flights operating between the two cities.

Shimla To Kullu By Train: As there are no direct trains to travel from Shimla to Kullu, travelers can take a train till Chandigarh or Delhi and then travel to Jogindernagar Railway Station which happens to be the nearest railway station to Kullu, which is located at a distance of 125 km from the place.

Train travel is not the most convenient option when considering the distance between shimla and kullu, as it involves multiple transfers.

Shimla To Kullu By Road: The distance between Shimla and Kullu is approximately 235 km by road. This is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to reach Kullu from Shimla. The first bus that departs from Shimla to Kullu is the HIM Mani Deluxe which is operated by HRTC and it departs at 8 AM. The duration of trip can be about 6 hours and 30 minutes when one travels from Shimla to Kullu by bus.

Our recent experience with the agency was mixed due to several issues: Driver working hours – There was no clear mention of the driver’s working timings in the itinerary or booking details. This led to confusion and inconvenience during the trip. According to him his timings were from 6 am to 8 pm

which we were not informed at the timing of booking or later also. Chandigarh itinerary – The planned schedule for Chandigarh was unrealistic and could not be followed as promised. I had even pointed out the same but yet was told that those activities were possible. This reflects poor planning and lack of practical consideration for travel time and feasibility. Hotel selection – On a positive note, the hotels chosen were well-selected and provided a comfortable stay, which was the highlight of the trip.
