How To Reach Coorg From Hyderabad

Since Coorg does not have an airport of it’s own, the travelers have three major operating airports nearby to choose from. These airports are well connected to the rest of the world, supporting almost all the domestic and international flights. These are Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore. In case of Hyderabad, Mangalore International Airport and the Mysore Airport are the nearest airports. Located about 160 kms and 120 kms away respectively from Coorg, Mangalore and Mysore airports are well connected to Hyderabad and from here, one can easily find private cabs and buses to Coorg. Making one’s travel faster and comfortable, direct flights are available till Mangalore and this, ultimately saves a lot of time. It is, however, suggested to book the tickets in advance.

By Road:

Using the NH7, one can reach Coorg from Hyderabad covering an approximate distance of 830 km. It will take somewhere around 12 to 13 hours for one to travel from Hyderabad to Coorg. If planning on going local and wishing to take the bus, one can get buses on intervals of a couple of hours, while booking tickets in advance is always a better option. But in case hiring a cab or driving oneself is prioritised, one can reach much faster than taking the bus. The way there is a transformation of picture outside the window, from a developed metropolitan city to a ravishing town that will encapsulate anybody in its mystical beauty, makes one experience the various phases of life in colour.

By Train:

Coorg has no railway station of it’s own and the nearest railway station is Mysore Junction Railway Station. So one has to travel from Hyderabad to Mysore by train and further to Coorg by a cab or a bus. In order to reach Mysore from Hyderabad, there is only one major train, that is, Jaipur Mysore Express. This train operates twice a week- Tuesdays and Thursdays. Arriving at Hyderabad Kacheguda Railway Station  at around 11:40 P.M., it reaches Mysore Junction at around 03:45 P.M. Being a hectic journey, that too with one train plying twice a week, it is something that is preferred less and recommended less and that is why many tourists take flights over trains.Even if one wishes to take the train, then it is always advised to book the ticket, well in advance.
