Ideal Route Options

There are three main route combinations you can take from Delhi to Kerala. All routes pass through major national highways and give smooth driving experiences.

Route 1: Delhi → Jaipur → Udaipur → Ahmedabad → Mumbai → Goa → Mangalore → Kochi

  • One of the smoothest routes
  • Best for people who want good highway quality

  • Great for car and bike trips

This is a popular route because NH48 is wide, clean, and easy to drive on.

Route 2: Delhi → Gwalior → Nagpur → Hyderabad → Bangalore → Kochi

  • Shorter compared to Route 1
  • Good mix of 4-lane and 6-lane highways
  • Ideal if you want faster entry into South India
  • Many budget hotels on this stretch

This route is perfect for those who want a balance of speed and comfort.

Route 3: Delhi → Agra → Gwalior → Indore → Pune → Belgaum → Mangalore → Kerala

How To Go Kerala From Delhi By Bus

Travelling from Delhi to Kerala by bus is not a common option because the distance is very long. While buses are popular for short- and medium-distance routes, this journey goes across many states, and it is not easy to complete such a long ride comfortably. Still, some travellers ask if it is possible, so here is a simple explanation. Bus travel is usually chosen only when you want to travel between nearby states. For long-distance routes like Delhi to Kerala, buses are not preferred because the journey would take many days, and you would have to change buses several times during the trip.

Is It Possible?

There is no direct bus from Delhi to Kerala. You cannot sit in one bus and reach Kerala in a single journey. If you want to attempt this trip by bus, you will have to take the journey in segments, such as:

  • Delhi to Jaipur
  • Jaipur to Ahmedabad
  • Ahmedabad to Mumbai
  • Mumbai to Goa
  • Goa to Mangalore
  • Mangalore to Kerala

This method is tiring and takes too many days. Most travellers avoid this option because:

  • Long hours in buses can be uncomfortable
  • Multiple bus changes make the trip confusing
  • No fixed timings for long-distance buses
  • Cost becomes high due to many separate bookings

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Kerala with my family of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids) through Namaskaram Travels, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience! We spent 8 days exploring the beautiful destinations of Munnar, Alleppey, Varkala, and Kovalam, and every aspect of our trip was met
iculously planned and executed by Mr. Vineet (Namaskaram Travels). I was worried about traveling with 2 young kids (4 & 1.8Yrs) and elderly parents (65 & 62 Yrs), but Namaskaram Travels (Mr. Vineet) made it a breeze We were lucky to have Mr. Karthik as our driver/guide for 8 days. He's one of the best I've met - humble, polite, and with a great personality! A true Munnar local. The accommodation was top-notch, the transportation was very comfortable, and the activities/sightseeings were enjoyable for both kids and adults. Mr. Vineet at Namaskaram Travels was super responsive, helpful, and flexible, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the trip. Their local knowledge and expertise really shone through, and we got to experience the best of Kerala's natural beauty and culture. We Highly recommend Namaskaram Travels for anyone looking for a stress-free and memorable family vacation! 5/5 stars!

Our Kerala trip was nicely arranged through Travel Triangle via Comfort Travel Agency. The itinerary and pricing provided were competitive. The travel executive, Sameer, was also available on call whenever guidance was needed, which we truly appreciated. However, a few promised add-ons were not ful
filled as committed — specifically the arrangements for Kathakali, Kalaripayattu tickets, and the Munnar photoshoot. We had to manage these ourselves and pay from our own pocket. While the amount for Kathakali and Kalaripayattu was eventually reimbursed after multiple follow-ups, the photoshoot expense was not reimbursed. It would be better if such add-ons are either fulfilled as promised or the relevant refunds are processed promptly on the first follow-up. Multiple follow-ups affect the overall experience and mood of an otherwise well-planned trip.

Agent Excellence: Vineet (Namaskaram Travels) A huge shout-out must go to our travel agent, Vineet. His professionalism and meticulous attention to detail made the entire booking process completely stress-free. Vineet expertly tailored the 4-day itinerary to maximize our time, ensuring comfortable travel and excellent accommodations in both locations. He was always responsive to our queries and ensured all logistics—from hotel check-ins to the houseboat boarding—were handled flawlessly. It felt great knowing we had such a reliable point of contact throughout the journey. Our Wonderful Driver: Subin Our driver, Subin, was truly the backbone of this trip. The drives between Kochi, Munnar, and Alappuzha are long, but Subin’s careful, safe driving and punctuality made every journey pleasant. He was extremely friendly, professional, and had superb local knowledge, pointing out hidden waterfalls, interesting spice plantations, and the best local spots for tea breaks. Subin's service went above and beyond; he was a reliable guide and a genuinely pleasant person to spend four days with. Trip Highlights Munnar (2 Nights) The rolling tea estates of Munnar are breathtaking. Our itinerary covered key spots like the scenic Mattupetty Dam, the fun echo phenomenon at Echo Point, and the unforgettable views from the top of the hills. The drive up, featuring stops and Valara waterfalls, set the perfect tone for the mountain stay. Alappuzha (1 Night Houseboat Cruise) The overnight stay on the traditional Keralite houseboat was magical and easily the highlight of the trip. Cruising through the narrow canals, witnessing village life, and watching the sunset over the backwaters was a truly unique experience. The traditional Keralite food served on the boat was delicious, and the staff was very attentive. In summary, if you are planning a trip to Kerala, we wholeheartedly recommend Namaskaram Travels. Ask for Vineet for the planning and Subin for the driving—they are a fantastic team! Date of Travel: October 2025 Package: 3 Nights / 4 Days Munnar & Alappuzha
