Things To Do In Kerala

Your list of the best things to do compiled on the basis of actual 3 Lakh+ experiences

If you are wondering what to do in Kerala, the choices are endless. From fishing at freshwater lakes to kayaking across the backwaters, from a volleyball game on a sun-kissed beach to touring an ancient monument, from an adrenaline-fueled hike up Meesapulimala to watching a Kathakali performance - the destination has a wide array of fun things to try. To single one out, the state is a paradise for tea lovers. People flock to Kerala in great numbers to visit the tea plantations and factories for an in-depth look at how the emerald green tea leaves are processed and turned into the brew that all of us love. Buy yourself a few samples on your own trip to Kerala, and those unusual flavors like spearmint and chocolate tea are sure to leave you asking for more!

Among the many other things to do in Kerala, some of the most popular ones include adventure sports such as paragliding, surfing, rock climbing, kayaking, bamboo rafting, trekking and many others. The list for adventure sports in Kerala is endless, so make sure to manage your itinerary in a way to accommodate most of them.

For those looking for a more laid-back holiday, it is a good idea to try some Ayurvedic therapies and massages, apart from simply enjoying a serene trip to the backwaters of Alleppey and Kumarakom. Ayurvedic spa therapy is one of the must-indulge-in activities to do in Kerala. Choose from an array of age-old massaging maneuvers and therapies to calm your body and mind.

In fact, if you have prepared yourself a list of top 10 things to do in Kerala, try to include a mix and match of adventure activities interspersed with days spent fishing, shopping for souvenirs or attending cooking classes. Spending time at the sunny beaches of Kerala is another favorite for families, newlyweds as well as solo travelers, offering everyone a chance to enjoy a sense of being away from the world.

For nature lovers, the main Kerala points of interest include the myriad of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries where they get a chance to spot rare animals and birds. There are 5 national parks and 13 wildlife sanctuaries in the state, ensconced beautifully on the slopes of the Western Ghats. The Ghats are home to a rich array of flora and fauna that is among the most well maintained in the country.

Those with a penchant for gaming and cheering teams on will love the famed snake boat race of Kerala. For travelers who visit the state during the boat festival, a major highlight of the trip is getting to see who lifts the prestigious award that year.

One thing is for sure, with something or the other to do for everybody, a Kerala vacation can never be uninteresting.

Naresh's 4 days trip to Kerala

I am highly disappointed with your travel agency. We had planned for a trip to Wayanad. We had a clear discussion about the package details and everything was fixed before the trip. All the charges about the package were decided and the itinerary was planned accordingly before we started our trip. All of the sudden on the third day of our trip, they showed their real faces and the driver demanded for additional charges of Rs.3500 saying that he was booked only for 350 KM ride. This was no where mentioned in the package and also none of the tour agency member informed us earlier regarding this. This is completely unfair. It’s a big cheating from the travel agency. The agency along with driver forced us to pay additional charges which was not stated in the package nor did they mention this earlier. The driver stopped the vehicle in between the trip and forced us to pay additional charges. It was a big trap for us because we were helpless and were forced to pay the extra charges as we were in the middle of the trip and couldn’t do anything rather than listening to them. I am going to take this issue forward and going to file a case against your agency by filing a complaint with the Ministry of Tourism through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring Systems (CPGRAMS) portal. Also I would never ever recommend any of my family friends to book trips from your agency Worst experience ever

House Boat: Cons I would like to bring you in notice that House boat condition was below average and it was very difficult to stay with family.Even the air conditioning system was pathetic. Most importantly bed size was very small for my kids. Pros: -Food taste was very good in house boat. Rest full trip was well planned and the Hotels in Kochi, Munnar & Thekkady was good. -Driver and cab was in Full condition and very well mannered
