Here is the full, current fee list. All rates are per person and are fixed by the centre, which runs under the National Council of Science Museums. We checked every figure against the official site (rscpcalicut.org.in) on 20 September 2026, so this is the price you actually pay at the Jaffer Khan Colony counter, not a stale aggregator figure.

A few things the table does not cover. The centre runs a separate group science demonstration (SDL) at INR 15 for the general public and INR 10 for school groups. Parking is INR 10 for a two-wheeler, INR 15 for a car and INR 25 for a bus. There is no separate camera charge for the galleries.

What each ticket actually gets you

The four ticket lines map to four different things, so pick the one that matches your visit rather than defaulting to the top of the list.

• Science Centre entry (INR 50) the two floors of hands-on galleries, plus the outdoor Science Park with its large working installations. Good for an hour to ninety minutes.

• Entry + planetarium (INR 75) the galleries plus one 30 to 40 minute show under the 250-seat Carl Zeiss dome. This is the ticket most families come for.

• Entry + 3D show (INR 65) the galleries plus a 3D science film in the auditorium. Slightly cheaper than the planetarium combo.

• All three (INR 100) everything above in one ticket, and the best value if you have half a day and children who will not want to leave.

The planetarium is the headline draw. It projects roughly 1,200 shows a year in English and Malayalam, and seats fill up fast on weekends, so the combined ticket is worth buying the moment you arrive.

Discounts, group rates and free entry

This is where the fee page most helps school trips and larger families, because the concessions are real and often missed at the counter.

• Organised school groups pay INR 25 for entry, INR 30 with a planetarium or 3D show, and INR 45 for all three. Teachers should call ahead on 0495 277 0571 so the visit and show slot are booked before the group arrives.

• Government schools pay even less, from INR 10 for entry up to INR 25 for the full combo.

• Entry is free for children under 5, ICOM members, people with disabilities, and service personnel in uniform.

One correction worth knowing before you plan a family visit. The centre does not publish a separate senior-citizen concession, so travellers above 60 pay the standard INR 50. If that has changed, the counter staff will confirm on the day.

Opening hours

How to book: online or at the counter

You can pay at the Jaffer Khan Colony counter on the day, and for a quiet weekday that is fine. On weekends and during school holidays the planetarium sells out, and since the dome seats only 250 people, a walk-in can mean waiting for the next show. Booking the combined ticket online saves that wait and locks in a seat for the show you want.

• Why book online it guarantees a planetarium seat, skips the counter queue, and lets you choose the combo tier before you arrive.

• If you book online turn up at least 15 to 20 minutes before your slot, since the doors close once a show starts.

What you will see inside

For a fee page the short version is enough, and the galleries reward an unhurried hour rather than a checklist. The ground and upper floors run through robotics you can operate, physics benches on force, motion and gravity, an environment zone on energy and climate, and an astronomy corner with scale models of the planets and satellites. Outside, the Science Park puts giant levers, gears and sound installations in the open air, which is where younger children tend to spend the longest.

The centre was inaugurated on 30 January 1997 by the then Kerala Chief Minister E. K. Nayanar and has been a fixture of Kozhikode school trips ever since. It is a genuine science museum run by the government, not a private attraction, which is why the tickets stay this affordable.

Plan your visit

Set aside two to three hours: about an hour to ninety minutes for the galleries and Science Park, plus a 30 to 40 minute show. Mornings are calmer than late afternoons, and weekday visits beat weekends if you can manage them.

Facilities

There are clean restrooms, a small cafeteria for snacks, and dedicated parking for two-wheelers, cars and buses. The building has wheelchair access and ramps, and entry is free for visitors with disabilities.

The centre sits on Jaffer Khan Colony Road near the New Bus Stand, an easy auto ride from Kozhikode railway station and the city centre.
