Vondelpark is the largest park in Amsterdam with the most beautiful views. There are a lot of things that one can do while in Vondelpark. People go for picnics, cycling, jogging, and other activities. There are lakes, cafes, and aesthetic statues here. Vondelpark in Amsterdam is located near the Museumplein and has the highest number of visitors every year. Certain shows are also held in this park every year and a lot of people visit to watch them. The King’s Day celebration is the most famous one in this park. The open-air theatre also allows the visitors to enjoy free music during the summer.
History Of Vondelpark
The park started in the year 1864 when a bunch of people collected enough funds to buy land and make a park. The park was initially named as Nieuwe Park, and even entry fee was collected for the maintenance of the park. The park was further extended, and a statue of the famous poet Joost Van Den Vondel was established in the park in the year 1867. After that people started calling it Vondelpark and the name was officially changed in 1880.

There are certain amazing places in this beautiful park that one can view. The amusing statue of Vondel, the rose garden, the avenues covered with trees, lakes and the famous open-air theatre, where one can enjoy music, cabaret, and dances during the summer months are some of these activities here. Artists also perform beautifully in this park every weekend in the summer. The number of visitors increases during this time making this park one of the most visited places in Amsterdam.
Vondelpark Events
The open air theatre of Vondelpark hosts an amazing festival every year from June to September. This festival is packed with dance performances, cabaret, children's theatre, stand-up comedy and all genres of music. There are special performances and events lined up for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The entry to these events is free. The place, however, does accept voluntary donations.
