      FAQs for Kerala

Which is the best season to visit Kumarakom?

Kumarakom is a beautiful destination that can be visited all year round. However, winters are the most pleasant since the average minimum temperature ranges from 18- to 20 degrees Celsius, and is ideal for Kumarakom houseboat rides and local sightseeing. But the duration from March up till May witnesses a heavy decrease in the number of tourists, and is therefore a great time to grab awesome deals on hotel accommodation and tour packages. Apart from this, the summers are a wonderful time to explore the city at your own pace since it is not very crowded. Monsoons are again ideal for planning a holiday in Kumarakom and witnessing Kerala in all its glory.

What to do during one’s leisure time in Alleppey?

Apart from backwaters, Alleppey is famous for its beaches, boat races, coir products, and Ayurvedic spa, and wellness centres. One can also go shopping in Mulakkal, which is 4 kilometres away from Alleppey and can get some souvenirs, coir bags, rugs as well as some native spices.

Which culinary treats should tourists sample in Alleppey?

Alleppey’s cuisine has a lot to offer. Delight your taste buds by trying the Ghee roast dosa and Malayalee parontha. Other than the famous Appams and Idlis, one can also give “Toddy” a try which is a locally fermented alcoholic beverage. Rice wine is another indigenous beverage that cannot be missed.

Where can one see snake boat races in Kumarakom?

The Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race is an annual event that is famous all over the world. It is a popular event that is organised on the Punnamada Lake near Alleppey, and it takes place every year on the second Saturday of August. It is a unique spectacle that retains the festive spirit of the village and cannot be missed when in Kumarakom.

What are the essentials that one must pack for a holiday in Kumarakom?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, head gear, and cotton clothes are a must when vacationing in Kumarakom during the summers. During monsoons however, don’t forget to pack your raincoats and umbrellas to enjoy the scenic beauty of Kerala unhindered.

Service has not good. Each time I called agent service to get the details. Alleepy house boat had not satisfied and they provided AC after 6 o’clock. Very disappointing the trip. Paid huge amount but not satisfied our basic expectations. Boat house food preparation is only good other than not satisfied.

Overall experience is nice and good. Whatever it is, you have given us the experience of life time memories. It would be good if we had covered more places as mentioned in the trip, but couldn't do due to time unavailability. Only difficulty faced in having the food of our choice mainly south Indian food for kids. Elephant ride , National park , Boating in Alleppey, travel in ship for crossing the road in cochin, Museum visit

The trip was very good. But what we felt is the planning of places(guidance by travel agent) can be done still better..... We were offered munnar-allepey-kochi package. But what we felt is rather it can be made as 2 days Munnar and 1 day Alleppey and kochi Because 3rd day we went to kochi and there was nothing to be visited...... We were disappointed to have wasted 1 precious day..... Whereas we could have utilised it in Munnar, where there are so many places to be visited It would have been really awesome if were suggested 2days Munnar and 1day kochi and Alleppey trip We had wonderful time in Munnar and Alleppey. The sceneric beauty of Munnar is treat to eyes and so pleasing..... Just loved it

Very harsh driving and atleast he stopped 4 times by other drivers on the road.. We had a day to cover Munnar and driver has no idea which places to take and he was least bothered to take us places. Which ever places we ask for stop over for sight seeing he seemed not bothered. If we ask we want to go to particular place he says there is nothing to see.. instead he wasted time.. he has no estimate of time for reaching places.. too much disappointed.. would never recommended this guy for any travellers.. Awesome weather in Munnar and location of madhumantra resort was awesome.. it was like I expected.. boat house was okay but different experience..
