Kerala Tour Package from Hyderabad (4N/5D): Overview
This 4 nights 5 days Kerala package takes you from Hyderabad to Kerala's three classic stops: 2 nights in Munnar, 1 night in Thekkady beside the Periyar Tiger Reserve and a last night on a private houseboat in Alleppey. The nonstop flight from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) to Kochi (COK) takes about 1 hour 35 minutes. Your agent's driver meets you at arrivals, and you reach Munnar's tea estates the same afternoon. Day 5 ends at Kochi airport in time for an afternoon flight home.
The package starts at INR 17,700 per person on twin sharing with 3-star stays and daily breakfast. It covers a private air-conditioned cab for the whole route, tolls, parking and fuel, and every meal on the houseboat. Flights from Hyderabad are not part of the base price. Add them when you request your quote, or pick our Kerala package from Hyderabad with airfare if you want one booking for everything.
It suits families and couples who want hills, wildlife and backwaters inside one short leave, and it fits neatly into a Thursday to Monday long weekend. Want a different length or mix? Compare all Kerala Tour Packages from Hyderabad.
What the Route Covers
Munnar gives you two nights in tea country at about 1,600 m, with a full day for Eravikulam National Park, where Nilgiri tahr graze beside the road, and the tea museum and dams along the Top Station road. Thekkady sits at the edge of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, and the forest department boat on Periyar Lake is the best way to see elephants and gaur at the water's edge, followed by a walk through a working spice plantation. The last night is on a private kettuvallam on the canals around Vembanad Lake. The Valara and Cheeyappara waterfalls come on the Day 1 climb. Timings, tickets and drive times are in the day plans below.
Why Choose This Trip
It is built for first-time visitors who want Kerala's hills, wildlife and backwaters in one short leave. The page covers the Hyderabad side too: which flight to book, what the train involves, and how Day 1 and Day 5 fit around your flights. It names the hotels you stay in and shows what the 3-star plan costs before you ask for a quote.
Prices, hotel names and inclusions on this page were checked by our Kerala desk against the SKU 9231 rate card in September 2026.
Highlights
• Fly Hyderabad to Kochi in about 1.5 hours and reach Munnar the same day
• See Nilgiri tahr up close at Eravikulam National Park
• Cruise Periyar Lake inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve, with a jeep safari as an optional add-on
• Spend a night on a private Alleppey houseboat with all meals cooked on board
• Walk a working spice plantation in Thekkady and a tea factory in Munnar
Getting from Hyderabad to Kerala
Flying is the only option that keeps this a true 5-day trip. IndiGo and Air India Express run nonstop between Hyderabad and Kochi, with about 77 flights a week, and the flight takes 1 hour 30 to 40 minutes. One-way fares usually start around INR 5,500 to INR 7,000 when booked three to four weeks out and climb past INR 10,000 around Christmas and New Year.
| Mode | Route | Journey time | Typical one-way cost | Our advice |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flight (recommended) | Hyderabad (HYD) to Kochi (COK), nonstop on IndiGo or Air India Express | About 1 h 30 min to 1 h 40 min | INR 5,500 to INR 10,000 per person | Land before 11 am on Day 1 and fly home after 2 pm on Day 5 |
| Train | Sabari Express from Secunderabad to Ernakulam | About a full day and night on board | Live fare shown on your quote | Add a night to your leave. Pickup from Ernakulam station is included |
| Road | About 1,100 km via Kurnool, Bengaluru and Salem | 18 to 20 hours of driving | Fuel and tolls | Too long for a 5-day plan. Read our Hyderabad to Kerala road trip guide |
Kochi airport is also the drop point on Day 5, so there is no second transfer to arrange. If you arrive by train, your driver collects you at Ernakulam Junction or Ernakulam Town.

Day 1: Hyderabad to Kochi to Munnar | Into the tea hills
Take a morning flight from Hyderabad to Kochi. Your agent's driver meets you at arrivals with a name board (or at Ernakulam station if you came by train). The road climbs from the coastal plain to about 1,600 m, and you stop at the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls, which run strongest from June to December, and at a roadside spice garden near Adimali. Check in at Misty River Resort or similar by late afternoon. The evening is free, and a walk into Munnar town for cardamom tea and homemade chocolate is the usual first plan. (Stay: Munnar · Meals: none)
Day 2: Munnar sightseeing | Nilgiri tahr and tea estates
After breakfast, head to Eravikulam National Park at Rajamala, where the park bus takes you up to the tahr viewing stretch (entry INR 200 per Indian adult, 8 am to 2 pm, closed 1 February to 1 April). Go early. The queue at the ticket counter is shortest before 9 am in peak season. Then visit the Tea Museum for the factory demonstration, and drive the Top Station road past Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and Kundala Lake. Elephant Arrival Point, Photo Point and the Rose Garden fill the late afternoon, and you can visit the Indo-Swiss Project if permitted. Return to your hotel for the night. (Stay: Munnar · Meals: breakfast)
Day 3: Munnar to Thekkady | Periyar and spices
Leave Munnar after breakfast for the 90 km drive south through cardamom estates to Kumily, the town at the gate of Thekkady. After check-in, take the forest department boat on Periyar Lake. The 1:45 pm and 3:30 pm sailings fit best on this day, and tickets are paid at the counter. Watch for elephants, gaur and sambar along the banks. A guided spice plantation walk follows, and an evening Kathakali or Kalaripayattu show in Kumily is an easy add-on. A jungle jeep safari can be booked at extra cost. (Stay: Hostess Thekkady or similar · Meals: breakfast)
Day 4: Thekkady to Alleppey | Your private houseboat
The 140 km run down to Alleppey takes about four hours, so leave Thekkady by 8 am to make the noon boarding. Board your private houseboat around 12 noon and sit down to a Kerala lunch of fish curry, thoran and red rice on deck. The boat cruises through canals, lagoons and paddy fields until 5:30 pm, then anchors for the night as local rules require. Evening tea with snacks and dinner are served on board. On an A/C houseboat, the air-conditioning runs from 9 pm to 6 am. (Stay: Golden Petals houseboat or similar · Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 5: Alleppey to Kochi to Hyderabad | Fly home
After breakfast on deck, the boat cruises back and you check out at 9 am. The drive to Kochi airport takes about two hours. With a flight after 4 pm, ask your driver to stop in Fort Kochi for the Chinese fishing nets, St Francis Church and the spice shops of Jew Town on the way. Your driver drops you at Kochi airport at least two hours before your flight to Hyderabad. (Meals: breakfast)

Customise Your Trip
Every day of this itinerary can be changed before you confirm. These are the swaps Hyderabad travellers ask for most:
• Kumarakom instead of Alleppey for a quieter houseboat base beside the Kumarakom bird sanctuary
• A Fort Kochi half day on Day 5 (Chinese fishing nets, Mattancherry, Jew Town) if your flight leaves in the evening
• An extra night to slow down: the 5 nights 6 days Kerala tour from Hyderabad, or two more nights on the beach at Varkala or Kovalam with the 6 nights 7 days version
• One night less for a shorter break: the 3 nights 4 days Kerala tour from Hyderabad
• A couples' version: the Kerala honeymoon package from Hyderabad
Best Time to Take This Trip from Hyderabad
October to March is the main season. The hills are clear, Periyar is green after the rains, and the houseboat evenings are cool, which is why Dasara, Sankranti and Christmas school breaks sell out early from Hyderabad. Book six to eight weeks ahead for those dates. April and May are hot on the backwaters but pleasant in Munnar, and rates soften. June to September is the monsoon, when waterfalls are at their fullest, prices are lowest and the Munnar roads are slower, so leave extra time. Skip Eravikulam between 1 February and 1 April, when the park is closed. For the month-by-month picture, see the best time to visit Kerala.
